If you like Windows XP and hate the fact that Microsoft will discontinue it soon, there is hope for you.

ReactOS is a free Open Source (programmers can expand and add improvements, just like Open Office) XP clone.

Here is a link: ReactOS

I can't help thinking Microsoft might be a little bit upset about an XP clone that's free. Bill Gates might try to fnd a lawyer willing to help protect that intellectual property.

And if anything goes wrong, who ya gonna call? GhostBusters?

Nah, it's already been done to some degree.. in fact some of the big retailers (like Sears: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00373907000P?vName=Computers+%26+Electronics&keyword=freespire) already carry open-source free os computers.

Linspire (http://www.linspire.com/products_linspire_whatis.php) is another that promotes itself as Win32-compatible. They used to be called "Lindows" but MS definately had a problem with that... :)

Update: I take it back, doesn't look it's Win32 compatible anymore by default, but there's definitely other packages available for Linspire that add Windows support some to some level.
