I helped a friend today with a new window display, and I thought I would share the results. According to her, sales went way up after I started doing them back in October. The "Needlework a Specialty" sign is left over from the first display. It didn't make sense not to still use it. She is located on a very busy street, and she made little use of the windows (she hates doing them).

Sorry for the reflections, best I could do.

Crap, I guess I'm gonna have to take the Christmas stuff out of mine now. Geeeee thanks for the reminder.

Anychance you could make it to Kentucky and help out? We do have a ton of horses around here!

Great job and thanks for the insperation.

The prints are from Greenwich Workshop. I don't know who the artist is. I figured since the display will probably be up until mid-February, they would fit in with Valentine's day.

When I walked in Friday, she was writing up a $350.00 order for a couple who had just "noticed" her.

So my youngest son was hanging out with me at the shop. I decided that one way to keep him busy would be to let him paint.

After he got done, as I was cleaning up the mess, I got an idea for a window display. I wanted to show off some pretty good framing as well as show people exactly how good framing can make a picture. So I took his paintings and made this:

Whatcha think? Because I have a second floor, I don't have a large front window like most of the stores. The steps are in the front of the store. But under the steps I have this cubby hole.

The top painting had this strong oriental feel. I played that up with a simple black Decor frame and a blue mat with that cut on the sides.

The second painting has a blue suede mat and gold fillet and a .39/ft frame from International. Who said good framing had to be expensive?

The final one is a gold swirlly frame from NEI. The red under mat is actually a painting. Cale took a fat brush and covered a whole paper in Red. He called it "Red Square". I guess hes a geography buff. Anyway I drymounted "Red Square" and used it as an under mat. The top mat is just an open v. This is also the painting he was paiting in the top picture.

Great idea Jay! What an adorable photo of your son. Only thing better, would have been if you could have had your son painting IN THE WINDOW w/a sign that read "Artist at Work" along w/some of his framed pieces. You know you can't part w/any of his masterpieces!

Jay,
What's the "Free orginal Art" sign all about? I can't read the small print. Display looks nice.

I wish I had a window. I would love to do this type of thing.

Pam, nice windows!

Jay, there you go! That's what ya do with kid in the shop, make them produce artwork.

Seriously, I love the display.

Good job, y'all! Thanks for sharing.

Greta idea, Jay! And a very talented child - how old is he???

Reminds me of my early efforts to get rid of mat scraps by giving them to neighborhood kids - they were so grateful that they all did drawings and GAVE THEM BACK to ME!!!

I called that .....

a drawback!

LOL!

Jay, the window looks great! Love the props-wonderful touch.

I'd like to know if you receive comments from customers.
