Why does my screen look blurry?

My computer just downloaded some updates, and one affected the Internet Explorer. It's all new and fancy looking, but my screen looks blurry, like all of the letters have a tiny halo around them that makes it look slightly fuzzy. Is there some setting that I can change to fix this, or do I just need glasses. It's Internet Exp. 7, I believe, if that helps.

Hey, nevermind, I think I just fixed it. I found a checkmark in the settings area for something called Clear Type.... I unchecked it and started explorer back up, and voila! No blurry letters..... Not so clear, eh? Nice job, Microsoft.

Is everything blurry, or is it just the screen?

Gosh, Kristen. For a minute there, I thought maybe you were over-enthusiastically practicing your liquid ingestion technique for New Year's Eve.

You didn't let it download IE7, did you?

ie7 is good stuff :)

If it was displaying the fonts in a blurry way, there may be an issue with the resolution setting for the video card. 1024x768 is about the minimum most folks use these days. I suggest setting it to at least 1024 or higher to see if that clears it up.

Apparently I did.... what's wrong with IE7? I generally just let the computer download whatever it thinks is necessary.... I know I probably shouldn't, but, I figure the Windows people know more than I do about this stuff (except of course the ClearType debacle), so I let them go.

BTW, had I been practicing liquid ingestion, do you think I would've been able to spell 'voila', or would've even thought to use it?

I run IE7 and like it.

Some time ago there was discussion about a possible conflict between IE7 and Quickbooks but this has not been an issue for me. I run IE7 and QB Pro 2006.

Glad you got that ClearType issue "cleared up". I'm a Mac person, and now happily using the Safari browser. The ClearType sounds a lot like an effect called "anti-aliasing" which is intended to reduce jaggedy-appearing type at certain resolutions. When not appropriate, it can make you think you need to clean your glasses or use some eye drops.
