I just got a letter from Larson stating they are dropping DeCastro. Did they go through all of DeCastros' inventory already? Does anyone know the story?

Larson dropping DeCastro or DeCastro dropping Larson ...what's the difference, they BOTH ain't worth a S*** anyway...

If you don't like either line AJ's comments are correct. If you had a use for DC you are going to have areal problem.
LJ is relocateing the New Orlean warehouse (Formerly DC)to St.Rose or close by.The DC facility was over 100,000 sq,feet.A lot of DC moulding was very similar to LJ only cheaper. All of this adds up to LJ wanting and needing to get rid of a lot of moulding profiles. They did warn some shops who bought as much of favorites as praticle.
Now for the really BAD news. The new Location won't store moulding at all.All moulding will come from other warehouses. This may cause a real problem if some of your order comes from one place and another comes from a second.
I've already had this happen. My mats came from N.O. ,some moulding came from Huston, and one 1lb. box of brads was stocked in Chicago.I was told that the brads would incure UPS charges.Small problem ,but why should I pay for what they choose to do.
Personally I think this is going to cost them business, especially since there are other suppliers in the N.O. area. The convienence that DC offered was why a lot of framers did business with them .Now LJ has decided this isn't important. For the N.O. metro area clients this also means that if you choose to pick up your order you will need to travel as much as 20 + miles to do what use to take minutes.
LJ has cut expenses, they only have 2 former office workers left of a very helpful DC staff.Do you think they Plan to pass on the saveings or increase services as some other farmers have noticed?(LOL)
I removed all the DC samples to relive the confusion as soon as I heard of the change.

While I would have phrased it more gently, I'm inclined to agree with AJ. As I type, I'm waiting for yet another replacement for a defective, time-sensitive chop that LJ screwed up. In this case it was a metal moulding with a metal deep gouge on the face. I guess their new metal chopper is using a seeing-eye dog. This make 7 straight order foul-ups in a row, and as far as I'm concerned, I'm about to cut my losses and drip the entire line.

I have also heard that the new LJ warehouse may not have Pick-up services.Or they may just discourage it. Either way It ceryainly seems that Lj is about to make a major cut in the services to the N.O. area .
I think I've heard of this tatic before .Devour the competion ,Cut services ,offer similar services at a higher price.Topped by cutting the service area size and no. of clients who can do business.
This all seems to increase profits anddecrease man hours : only I don't think the average framer benefits .Do you think they have OUR needs at heart? I know alot of other framers never had these perks( You don't miss what you never had) and I'm sorry for you.But DC did quite well what makes LJ different aren't they much larger and better organized?
