Searching For White matte finish Shadow Box moulding - 3" deep

Thought I'd try again....

Any know of any sources for white shadowbox moulding 3" deep? Can be any finish at this point!

Thank you for any info you may have.

We have one that's 2-3/4" overall (2-1/2" in the rabbet) in a white that is between matte and satin.

International 305-520 is 3 3/8 with a 2 7/8 rabbet. It is black, but a can of spray paint can fix that.

How many feet do you need? I'll be running off rabbets in 22' of 2x4s today.....

It always amazes me when someone asks for a Porche, and people offer up
fast VW, Corvettes, rat engine Yugos......

3" is 3" people..... 2.5 and 2.75 is as good as .38.....

If they had asked for 3-1/8" or 2-15/16" probably no one would offer anything less. But "3 inches" does not imply precision.

And "3 inches deep" leave the question as to whether it's total moulding height - maybe to visually match something they already have, or rabbet depth as a package requirement.

Really need help now!

OK, so I bought an International 305-520 3" black shadowbox chop (cost me about $100) and I've tried painting it white with spray paint and it looks horrible - the paint is not going on smoothly, it's bubbling, etc. I'm now scraping the paint off.

It has that thick black coating on it which is making it difficult for the paint to adhere properly.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe for a different kind of paint? I'd prefer to use this chop as I'm already into it $100 plus two cans of spray paint!

It's about 27" x 29" and I'm framing a folded US flag with a certificate.

Help!

It will need to be sealed with Kilz spray before it is painted. You want to apply using several very light coats and never try to cover all the black at once. Hopefully you haven't joined the frame yet because you will get build up in the corners if you have it joined. Start the spray path a couple of inches before the beginning of the moulding and end beyond the end of the length. You will still see a little black showing through after a gentle coat and then let it dry. Thick coats of spray will run and create uglies.

Getting a good finish spraying moulding is an art and takes practice so I would try on something other than the chop before you begin. Your spray needs to be done from the front side of the moulding and then the backside. Let each pass dry completely before the next spraying even if you are doing the opposite side.

Paint not going on smoothly sounds like it might be a humidity issue, bad nozzle or the can is not mixed enough.

Lately I have had the best results with Valspar spray from Lowes. You also have to spray it on in several light coats letting it dry between them.
