That looks correct to me, just as it sits.
 
Yeah, that's good. Japanese is written right to left and the red stamp is the signature. When I'm not sure, I visit the local Chinese take out place. Even if it's Japanese, they share some of the same kanji.
Never seen a horizontal piece like that.
 
That's what I was thinking. Also, the shadows on the branches are facing downward in this orientation. (no pun intended.)

Rick! That piece is very VERY similar to the piece I have that can't lay flat! How's the condition of that piece, and are you mounting it differently? With mine, the linen tape is straight, the watercolor on the inside is starting to buckle.
 
I don't know for sure but maybe it's upside down. The font stitch embroidery is strange though, almost as if it's back to front.
