Ok,Folks, I'm asking all you biggies who have the space for the CMC's... Which one do you like the best? I've looked at them all, but, right now, I'm still cutting by hand. I know that a CMC is in my future, but I'm sure don't know which one that I want. Give me some good Grumble feedback. Thanks!

Can't say that I have tried them all but I just rented the Wizard. Have to admit that it has saved me alot of time on some multi-opening mats I had on my list to do. I'm talking 40 and more openings. This thing has amazed me and my customers also.

I saw the Fletcher model in Atlanta and have heard that's the way to go if you have the cash. I just don't at the time...

Just my newly found, two cents. Good luck!

Susan,

If you have the cash or can borrow it, buy the Fletcher. If you don't or can't - rent the Wizard. If you haven't been keeping up with the news, buy my Mat Maestro and I'll buy a Fletcher or rent a Wizard.

Now, why do I think that there is a real problem with that Mat Maestro??? Something sounds real fishy here. I had been leaning toward the Fletcher, but had melt down at that cost. Maybe, I just need to get a 3rd job to pay for it.

I have a small shop in a small town, but I try to keep up with all the latest technology. I rented a Wizard to get my feet wet, and I really like it. I also liked the idea that they would fix it if something broke. Technical support has been very good. The only issues I have had (besides a learning curve1) was an occassional slight hook on the corners, which tech support was able to tweek with one call.
Apparently, some of the issues (besides price!)are: 1) how much mat is wasted if you let the machine cut the outside? Wizard wastes 1.5", the Fletcher & Eclipse is less. 2) How tightly can the head rotate? This makes a difference when it comes to design work, clip art, etc. 3)Noise. The wizard makes lots of noise when cutting ovals, clip art, etc. 4) Can the machine cut 8-ply mats? I don't think the Wizard is supposed to be used for this, I don't know about the others.

I'm sure there are lots of other things, too. For me, the Wizard is affordable, and suits the needs of my small shop, but for heavy production you might think of the Flethcher.
