Anyone know who sells those blue clothes to clean glass? They are thin but very tough! A shop I used to work at bought them by the case, and they were great compared to others on the market! Help!

hardware store, Fletcher Terry, Kmart.

Paul N posted a link for their order form on here recently.

Beware the cheap costco ones. They shed tiny fibers that will drive any good framer nutz! Make sure you are getting the more expensive 3M ones...

Or wait! Do you mean the ones that are like what auto mechanics use... the papery kind? United has a good line of white ones (the more expensive ones are better... and ain't that always the way?) that we used to use before 3M microfiber cloths.

For decades I've used flour sack towels for cleaning glass. They are 100% cotton, non-shedding, washable, and have just enough texture to get the job done effectively and not be too slippery in your hand.
They are sometimes hard to find, but Meijers usually has them. Each towel can be cut in half to make two glass rags. They last a long, long, time but when they start to wear out they can be used for other purposes like wiping glue residue or putty.

Thanks!

All,

Thanks a bunch for all your suggestions! I'll check those sources. I remember they came cut, not on a roll, and were about 12x12. When it comes to cleaning glass the right stuff saves so much time and hassle!

Any other sources that come to mind, please leave me a message!

After 30 years of framing what I use now and have for 25 years are the terry cloth shop towels from sams club. Framers ALWAYS say "But the lint is a problem.......... Blah, Blah, Blah" but I would never go back. They give the best results and are quick, easy and very effective. Once they are washed 3 or 4 times there is no lint problem. Cleanest glass you will ever get quick and easy.

Those who don't like them should keep doing what they have always done but until you try them you will never know.
