Just wondering how many of you join your Shadowbox style frames.
I use the "white" cassese wedges and stack two on top of each other.

Ive seen it done with both a white cassese wedge (just one) and then also nailing it.

what have you all found to be the best join for you ?

I've quit using shadowbox mouldings and mostly use regular profiles with extenders. When I do typically glue and nail almost anything that doesn't take a v-nail very well.

Good luck.

Use VNails almost exclusively. If the grain of the wood will allow it I stack vnails, double stack is ok but triple stacking gets tricky. I like the 15'sAnd have doubled those.

Will also vnail the bottom and nail the top corners together if the moulding is too thin, or the grain causes the vnails to "pop" out the back. But I do what feels securest for the moulding and the weight of the completed job and every other factor.

usually a combo of clamp & nail..then v-nail the bottom with a 10MM

Clamp and Nail on deeeeep moldings
I do not use nails and v-nails. Ever try to do a repair on a frame with both or with nails in both directions, PITA.

Glue, vice then nail only into side rails. If deep enough, I may use three nails per corner.

depending how big. usually vnail then nail. but if its large and skinny, just use the old fashioned vice and nails

On really tall one, glue up first in vise. 18-gauge brad nailer at top and v-nails at bottom (usually 2-stacked in, and 1 out).

I have been using the Confetti black almost exclusively for jersey frames the last couple of years. I glue, let set, then v-nail. I stack three 10mm v-nails on the interior, and 2 on the outer. Think with the smaller v-nail, you have a little more control over where it's going. I'd be a little wary if I was doing the same with 15mm v-nails. You also want to make sure to set the v-nail's about 1/4" in from the outside of the moulding, to avoid any potential blowouts.

Before Confetti came along, I used to use LJ's 510BL for my jerseys. Now that one, due to the thin width, I would glue then nail with a 2" thick nail, predrilling the holes, of course. Had iffy results trying to v-nail that moulding, although it could be done. Have all but eliminated that profile from my wall. The Confetti black is a tad bit cheaper, and it what I think a much better product, both in terms of appearance and workability.
