Three questions I ask myself when setting prices -
1. How much time does it take (labor)
2. How much material does it take (costs)
3. How much do I hate doing it (value)

Betty,

You forgot the "Jerk" charge on that list.

Some customers just ask for it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a jerk charge. Say $10. They will never know....but you will. ;)

70UI = $72 sounds like I'm too low :(

PITA charge - $20 anthing that has an old frame shop label from this area gets this charge automatic (always filled with masking tape)

Mine was $89.00. This was based on Jerry's $50.00 charge plus gas money and vegetarian B-B-Q for the ride to his shop.

Now how long does it take to stretch a 24x36?

It takes me 10 minutes or less. It must have enough canvas or the price would go up a lot PIA but I get $35.00 for 24x36.

35 x 35 is $99. 24 x 36 is $74. We use offsets, add a f/c backboard, and finish with paper and the proper hanging system with hooks. Works for us.

Retired from the grind
We get $83.00 (60 UI) and $96.10 (70 UI). But no frills à la MerpsMom.

Sunshine Frames
24x36=$94.65
35x35=$111.60

Price includes polyflute backer attached with stainless hardware. Does not include fitting in frame. I don't use off-the-rack stretcher bars. I get them from Foster's, or I make them from strainer stock.

I don't have my price list handy but almost all of these prices seem WAY too low. Isn't it standard to charge about $2/UI? For a 35x35, my strainer stock cost, alone, is around $45, chop. And doesn't include mark-up, brace and labor.
