I've been running my own frame shop for about a year and a half now and as anyone new to the field should be, I'm starving for knowledge. I feel like I am doing well and putting out a quality product especially considering the length of time that I've been framing but I want to improve. So I thought that beginning to prepare for the CPF exam would be a good place to start. Just as a side note, I'm seeking certification out of a desire for the information I will attain through study, preparation and attaining the title and not just simply because I want the letters on my business card. I've purchased all of the materials that are required reading and I have been reading and studying but I figured with all of the expertise that is out there on this forum there just might be some pointers on what to do and not do as I prepare. Thanks!

It sounds like your doing it. Study and learn new and time tested techniques then actually put them into practice.

Study and understand the practice test questions. Read the specified chapters. Ask questions to those who have passed the exam. Take a CPF prep course, if there is one offered. Check your answers and take all the time alloted if you wish. Don't get phased if somebody else taking the test finishes in 1 1/2 hours. Most of those who take this test, pass it. So will you!

A nite of heavy drinking before the day of the test is required!!

For even more info about framing.. try to get out to Vegas for the convention and sign up (now!) for tons of classes out there.
