Last week I asked a question about Label Suppliers. The response was more than favorable and I am investigating my options. Would anyone care to share what they put on their label? I am trying to get everything I need on mine and just wonder what should be there and what shouldn't. I am sure it is a matter of preference, but I would be curious to know what everyone out there has on their labels. Company name? Address? Phone #? I am thinking it might be a bad idea to put too much in the event anything changes?

I just use my business card. It has all the contact info, which is what I want them to know anyway.

I have about 50,000 foil embossed labels with a logo I no longer use anywhere else. I left off the address, having moved multiple times since I got them, but did put Appleton, WI on them. I thought I would always be in Appleton.

I have been generating custom labels for most of my orders. They are less visually appealing and more informative and contain things like:

</font>
  • Order number and date</font>
  • Frame and source</font>
  • Mat(s)</font>
  • Glazing</font>
  • Mounting used</font>
  • Special instruction, like acrylic cleaning or hanging instructions</font>
  • Contact info, like my name, email, website, etc.</font>
I suppose any other framer could look at that label and duplicate the order but, if my customer is going to another framer to duplicate an order, I really haven't done my job in the first place.

I use a card with hanging instructions and hooks attached to it, I see more damage to frames that were poorly hung on one hook than I care too.
I also like the kind that tell exactly what is used in its making ie
UV nonGlare,
rag mat
cloroplast
concrete
date
name add phone etc

We give a copy of the work order when the customer retrieves his framing, so we do not place specifics on the back of the frame.

All we do is assign blame with the following:

It’s black lettering on a silver foil background (smaller than this, actually). The surrounding "frame" border is part of our trade mark which we incorporate into nearly all of our stuff.
