We would like to hand out a door decal/bumper sticker at the WCAF show in January promoting custom framing. We cannot take credit for the idea as we came across one done by Jim Miller at CMI Moulding and thought it was a great idea to support framers. The challenge is to give the public a reason to support framers and convey the idea that custom framers help preserve and display both art and personal memories.
Something like “Custom Picture Framers Help Preserve What is Important to You” or “Custom Picture Framers Preserve What Matters” You get the idea. It should be short and to the point.
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

First thought: Picture Framers Preserve.

Short and sweet, and easy to read and remember.

I've found that as soon as people see the word "Custom', they think 'expensive'.

I won't be able to make the show, but if you get them made up, I'd proudly drive around with one on my vehicle.

Super idea Alan. To follow through with your idea, maybe you could make it into a campaign by giving us the files to put in our brochures, newsletters and websites. Customers need to see things in multiple places for it to make an impression. Thank you! We appreciate your efforts!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Our plan is to send a supply to all our distributors and mail them to anyone that asks. Your idea of making it into a PDF for framers to use is a good one. I love when ideas snowball!! We will put it in a drop box once we find the best saying and framers can pick it up and use it however they like. Now all we have to do is figure out what to say.

It would be nice if we were able to use wording that would get across the message of preserving the important and that your local framer is a skilled professional. This is not an easy task with only a few words and that is why I have asked for help from the Grumblers.

Back when I was in college, I worked for a coffee shop and our slogan (which we had printed on bumper stickers) was "Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks".

How about, "Friends don't let friends frame at Michael's"? (Or [insert BB here])

Oops, I think I misread the OP.

Bashing leaves a bad taste in your mouth, and the competition's name in your customers head :) Two things we should be avoiding... ;)

Incidentally, I totally agree - but I would still love to have one of those bumper stickers for private display :)

I am prone to the K.I.S.S. concept with bumper stickers. Short, sweet and to the point whatever you end up going with. My suggestion is: Picture Framing Preserves Art

Something with Professional in it....perhaps "Professional Picture Framers Preserve Art and Memories" This raises the status of what we do.

Could go with the (not so) current catch phrase

have a nice square frame on a yellow diamond around the words "Framer on board" in small letters could be your url.

3 Versions of the same idea:-
Got Photos? - Get them Custom Framed
Got Memories? - Get them Custom Framed
Got Art? - Get it Custom Framed

The words "Framing" and "Framed" cover a lot of ground. :popc:

I agree. The majority of people outside our industry conjur up an image of a carpenter when you say "framer" without adding the word picture.

Thanks to everyone who had an idea. I looks like gagetgal has come up with the one that says everything in just a few words. We like the use of the word professional instead of custom to convey a person trained and committed in what they do. Also the part about "Preserve" makes the framer look valuable to a person who wants a good piece of art or an important keepsake framed properly.

When I had a frame shop new customers wanted to make sure we knew what we were doing before they brought in very valuable pieces to be framed. First visits were usually spent talking about their needs, our knowledge, and our ability. It may be a lot to ask from a door decal or bumper sticker but the idea is to tweak them into thinking about the importance of using a professional so they know it was done correctly.

Thank you gagetgal well done
