Can someone please tell me what is the thickness (in either parts of an inch, or mm.) of Bainbridge Papermat cream core.
Searched their web site and this forum - but couldn't find info.
Thanks,

Thanks Lemon Drop,
4 Ply can be anything from 1.25 - 1.5mm. ( 50 point - 60 point for our USA Grumbers)
I need to know the thickness a bit more precisely!
So when USA (East Coast) wakes up any time now, hope someone can supply the answer.

I remember that Crescent had thickness specifications printed in their specifier booklets(folders with little samples of each color). If memory serves me correctly, the specifications were given in a range of thicknesses with a variance of about 1/100 of an inch (EX: .048"-.052"). Each paper surface comes from a different mill, and added to variations in the conversion process, there has to be a spread of "from - to" in their specifications.

Hi Keith,

Working with CMC's on a daily basis, and I can say that BB Papermat (like most brands of matboard) is consistently between 1.2mm to 1.3mm - although it is hard to find any BB Papermat anymore, given that whitecore board is the overwhelming standard now in "Oz -Trailer".

Color Cores usually get to 1.4mm - 1.5mm thick for most brand as well.

Bear in mind, there is always at least 0.1 variance, due to the hygoscopic nature of paper based products like matboard, and moisture in the air (rainy days, humidity, etc).

Cheers,

Jared Davis

... unlike Keith... I have visited 82 framers in one country!

I'd be interested to know why you need to know the thickness to such a fine degree of accuracy.

Jared,
Many thanks.

CA Framer and Char87,
Someone has insited they are 2mm thick and I said - no way, but then had great difficulty finding out the thickness. So last resort - ask on The Grumble, because someone in USA is sure to know.
And I got the answer - from Jared in Australia :icon11:

Just goes to show its a truly world forum!

Jared's post is most complete. It is important to remember that thickness varies by manufacturing tolerances, and by environmental conditions. A board measuring exactly 1.4 mm today could be slightly thicker or thinner tomorrow, depending on changes of temperature and humidity.

"Someone" may have been referring to glass thickness, but 2 mm might still be wrong. Most Americans use glass that is nominally 2.5 mm, but its manufacturing tolerances are generous; something like + or - .2 mm as I recall.
