Hi All,
This is my first post. This will be my second trip to the wcaf show and I'm curious what others will be shopping for this year. A CMC is on the top of my list. I'd also like to find a source for some decent box moulding (straight with a good finish at a good price). I know that may like finding the holy grail, but I have hopes. What's on your list? Is there something you wait on to buy at the show each year?

I will be looking for a mitre sander and a fillet cutter. I will be spending a good deal of time with the Wizard people, as I want to set up the Integrated Framer program this year. Finally, I will be visiting several moulding companies with the idea of adding some sample types I don't carry right now. BTW-how much usable moulding do you expect to get in a box? I've been hesitating to order such for fear I would end up with a lot of unusable junk. Hope to see you there! I'm starting to pack tonight!

As far as the fillet cutter goes, what company should I visit for that?

I am getting excited, this will be my first time to Vegas and the show. Yippie.

Hi Ron,

Let me be the first to welcome you to this . . . this . . . ah . . . group of . . . er . . . . . . folks!

Hopefully, I'm looking for lots of stuff! I've not yet opened a shop yet but want to very badly. A good manual mat cutter is on the top of my list. I think I've narrowed it down to a Fletcher or a Chronomat.

Hohpe to meet you there.

I'm looking for some "special" purchase moulding, and "new" stuff. I will be spending time trying to see if there are any inovations I am not aware of, and making sure I know what's going on witht he technology.

As for the fillet cutter ... with Art Mac out of business and Fletcher improving on the old frame square, the only place to get one is from a Fletcher distributor! A nice machine and probably the only game in town.

Moulding, depends on the "quality" -- If it's a "good" moulding , I don't expect any bad stuff that is counted in the purchase. For example, a stick will have a blemish on it, but they "deduct" a foot from the charged footage. HOWEVER, the "waste" you get comes from cutting around these blemishes. If there is more than one on a stick I'm not happy!

A cheepo (maybe under .50) moulding, I expect it to cost me about .65 before I'm done. In other words, I am expecting about 30% waste.

Thanks for the information on the moulding. Years ago, we figured in about 15% waste. Looks like it's gone up a bit-just like everything else.

My time will be spent in classes with about an 90 minutes in between to be spent perusing the trade show floor. I have the vendors I want to see marked down on one of the show lists so I don't waste time wandering. Any particular recommendations or "must-see" booths (besides Baer's of course!) for good equipment deals?

"...... I think I've narrowed it down to a Fletcher or a Chronomat."

Jerry,
I won't be going to WCF but am also deciding on a new mat cutter, I have just about decided on a Chronomat because I hate the idea of cutting the long sides and then the short sides. Please let me know the +'s & -'s of each unit since you'll be able to road test them there. Thanks bunches, Terri
