Hi Everyone!
I will be opening my frame shop in the next 3 months and am looking for a good source to buy used framing equipment. I have looked at framingequipment.com. Has anyone purchased through them? Any suggestions would be most helpful and appreciated! Thanks!

I compiled a list of about 14 used sources at This Page

If you find any others, please let me know and i'll include 'em!

dns,

First go to Mike's post, then click on the words "this Page" and it will take you to a well constructed source for a whole bunch of useful information and links that Mike has compiled over the last year or so.

After you have the site up on your screen, click on "Favorites" at the top of your screen in the IE toolbar. Click on "Add to Favorites" and then click on "Create a New Folder". Create a new folder called something like "Grumble Sites" or "Whatever You Want to Call the Folder" and add that site to your Favorites list in that folder. Then, when you want to find an answer to something on Mike's list or find a URL to some site that he has listed, you can find it without searching all over the web!

Cool, eh??

Thanks Mike!! Most appreciated!

I must be doing something wrong. I clicked on it and got a list of about 7 questions and there is nothing that says, this page. I clicked on the last question about suppliers and nothing happened. Jean in Maine

Hi Jean,

Click on the third one from the bottom that says

"What are some good sources to buy or sell USED EQUIPMENT? "

I found most of these from old threads on the grumble, and when we were shopping for equipment a couple years ago. If you know of any more, i'll gladly add them to the list.

There are some good deals out there. We found one guy selling a Mors0 chopper, 4 vices, 3 sets of blades, and Fletcher 3000 (all like new) for $2k. The Pistorius vnailer was $1750 used, the seal 500ts were about $450 each. My only advice is to consider the shipping and packing issue beforehand. We had a nightmare with the Pistorius (he put this heavy equipment in a cardboard box, directly against the side with no packing material and it came in all smashed up with pieces missing), and the Fletcher/Morso was even more of a nightmare because he wasn't willing to lift a finger to prepare the items for shipping. (He was in CA going out of business, im in RI) I had to hire a professional moving company to go out there and wrap up and remove the items. They arrived a week after we opened the shop because of all the delays, but in perfect condition. The seals cost so much to ship from upstate NY. The guy was nice enough to drive them down and made it into a mini vacation. The shipping can be the biggest issue, so it's good to plan accordingly for that. One thing I learned is that the moving companies are willing to go in and prepare things for you and put the equipment on a pallet for a small fee. Using them to move the equipment can cost over $1000. it's cheaper to use them to prepare the packages and then use a regular trucking company to move it to your location. (~$150) They'll require it to be strapped safely to a pallet.

All of that said, I'd do it all the same way if we were looking again.

Mike
