What have I done to my mouse?

I'm sure it came with a manual but heaven only knows where that is...

I have a Dell wireless mouse that came with my Dell computer. It has one of those scrolly dealies between the buttons. Normally I use it to...scroll. Today it seems to be acting as a zoom feature. . . The Grumble looks great super-sized. I can see this being a useful feature but I'd like to be able to control it. Is this phenomenon familiar to anyone?

p.s. apparently if you drop a moulding catalog on your keyboard just the right way you can make the screen reorient sideways. Ive done this twice.

My advice is not to drop moulding catalogs on your keyboard.
j/k

If you hold down the CONTROL (ctrl) button on the keyboard, and spin the wheel on your mouse, the text will go from mini to supersize. If it's doing this all the time, your keyboard may be out of synch. If so, shutting down and restarting will fix it right up. Dropping the catalog on the keyboard probably caused this, in fact. If you hold Shift/CTL/ALT down at the same time, it will often cause this to happen.

I hope this helps!

Mike - This time I didn't evev have to ask you and you have saved my life!!!!! I was gonna try and figure out how to make text bigger and lo and behold! you pointed out a feature I have never used on my cordless mouse and NOW I CAN SEE!!!

Thanks!!!

You have me stumped as far as the screen being sideways. Are you sure the catalog didn't hit the monitor on it's way to the keyboard, and flip it on its side? :D

Windows has a lot of hidden shortcuts and ways to do things. I suspect you found one of them by accident.

That was on a different day. When it happened I called my IT person who is in fact my sister. It apparently is different for different systems but the combination that works for mine is CTRL + ALT + whichever arrow faces the way you want the screen turned.

I don't know why you'd want it sideways.

As a heads up, that tip also works on optical and regular scroll mouses (meeses?)(mice?) that are corded.

(I think it is a standard function on XP for any mouse that has a scroll wheel.)

P.S. Meghan, you need to quit droppin' stuff that is heavier than your l'il digits on that keyboard! I heard a rumor that keyboards go bonkers and finally rebel against their users if they catch that kind of "typing" very often.

That made my day. I am going to have alot of fun with changing the direction of the screen. I can't wait to see how many of my staff try to tilt their head sideways to read it.

P.S. Mike thanks for the tip on changing the size of the font. I could never figure out why one monitor screen was larger than the other.

That might make a good April Fool's joke, eh?

Meghan,
Don't listen to 'em! The only permanent fix for your mouse is to move to Clayton, NC, and move in with a single guy and...be sure he has a dog named Bo.

That's the ONLY permanent 'fix'!

PS: Bring your vacuum. this place is FULL of 'Bo-hair'!!

OK - now I have a kwestion about this font enlarging mouse property. I was surprised to see the Grumble still BIG when I got home tonight - but no other web pages have changed. Do I have to do this to EVERY website individually and then they will stay that way til I change 'em?

BTW - why doesn't the font get larger in the Reply???

Also - GOOD LUCK with that propasal, Charles - any woman would be HAPPY to move in with you and vacuum dog hair!!! ;)
