What do you do if Google has your number(s) wrong?

Baer called me to ask about sending me some class materials. He confirmed my phone number and it was wrong. I asked where he got it and he said he "googled" my company and that is what came up.

I tried it and the phone numbers for all of my locations are wrong! And I don;t have any idea where they came from.

Anyone know who to call to get your Google listing fixed?

Rob,

I'd be more concerned about where Google gets the phone numbers. Superpages, which Verizon sold/traded/etc to Idearc, has the same phone number for you as Google.

Have you tried checking your local phone company's internet listing to make sure that it is correct? That would be the most likely step to getting the root cause corrected. Unless it's changed, I was told that the 3rd parties are contractually required to use the database "as-is" from the local telco.

I typed:

Gallery Services San Diego

into my google tool bar.

Rob, when I did the search there were several listings with numbers to the right of a google map and I am not sure which one is yours. If you click on the link to the right of each (reviews, more, etc.) it will bring you to the google listing and at the bottom is an "edit this Listing" link. That might work.

Try typing your “real” phone number into Google and see what happens. (The ‘powered by Google’ search that may be imbedded into your home page doesn’t always work, so go to the Google home page site itself.)

Use the format “555-555-5555” (with the hyphens). If the first listing is for Gallery Services and the address is correct, then I suspect that the number you and Baer found is your number that was imbedded into and linked from another site.

When I type my number into Google that way, the first few listings are to my web site and from directories under which I am listed. The last few, however, are from other sites which have linked to my web site. The primary number on those “other” sites, is never my own.

If your number doesn’t come up first, then your telecom company has probably screwed up. If that is the case notify them (good luck wading through their voice activated menus).

At the bottom of most Google pages is a “Dissatisfied? Help us improve” link where you can report the problem. It may take some time, however, for a real person resolve this.

Moved three yeraws ago - still having problems

Even though our web page has the correct address, the phone company has the correct address etc

if you google my store or phone number you get the old address - I have reported the problem numerous times to many different companies ie. ATT Google, yellow pages, yellowbook and anywhere else I find it wrong

it might be corrected for a month or two then......

I have found the wrong address now still three years later - it still comes up that I am on Michigan and not Maple....:icon45:

If you are successful please tell how you accomplished it.
