If you print, and if you do this kind of work, what do you charge for it?

What are fair expectations of the results?

I tell those asking about it that I go for a 95% color match. That I want the print to have the same overall feel as the original, but there may be some colors that don't represent 100% the same. If they want me to go there my price goes up exponentially.

I find that the yellows don't always lock in without a bit of tweeking and if there is any cobalt blue in the painting, i will have a problem with that as well as it has a known propensity to capture somewhat off color from the original pigment. I am finding I can go into LR and do the tweeks quickly and much better than in PS.
I agree with you in telling the customer that a 95% accuracy is the minimum I strive for.

As for the capture pricing:

If it is a small one up to around 12x18ish, I charge $50 for the scan and color balance.
For larger stuff, using my Betterlight system, it starts at $95 and goes up from there depending on size and how much rearranging the studio is needed.
If they only need something for their web site, i'll charge $25 per and shoot it with my Canon 1Ds Mark III.

Just did a 6' long quilt.. shot it in 2 sections on my movable wall and merged it in PS and then straightened the uneven edges as well. $185 for that. On this one, the colors dropped right into place, no dancing required! I love when that happens!!
