Hmmm! In my 3yrs limited experience I haven't seen one like it. Although if I am looking at the picture correct, it doesn't look like an underpinner that shoots v-nail, but instead looks like the two nail guns cross fire nails into the outside corners, like you would do if you used a vice/nail technique.

Not sure about the CS thing.

Jeez, it's scary looking! Stay away!

Imagine aiming 2 nail guns at each other then leaning over it? For 8 hours a day? Nope, me neither.

Bad taste joke but maybe CS stands for Commiting Suicide with it.

Nope, Bob, CS stands for Crappy System.

But, I agree that it is kinda scary looking.

My bet is that those tube thingies at right angles to each other are strange, not to be trifled with, hold down, clamping arms. It looks like something out of “The Matrix”.

Yea a frankenthreaded thread in the Techie section! Bet it'll take a while before others realize.

(sorry Joel!)

Bunch of things worry me Joel, and scream run away.

  1. The three holes make me think they used morso blades for the back fence!
  2. The "air hammers" look like the bodies to a grinder or drill and not a hammer/pinner.
  3. the weight looks way off balance, like the center of gravity is beyond the fence. Tip that sucker over while using it and you'll have at least one of those guns aimed at your face!
  4. the age of the mat cutter, a 4060, makes me leary of the "condition" of the equipment, whether stored in a box or not.
I guess I could say cough up the extra $5 and buy the distributor for the Mustang and look for a vnailer from a used equipment vendor that might rehad it before you get it! The thread about looking for a quiet compressor and leaking components in the vnailer make me want a qualified person looking it over before I get it, not a guy that bought it at an estate sale! or tag sale.

hee hee call Paul Cascio and ask if he'll match the price you saw on ebay!

Clamp Stapler

Joel

This machine is a Pistorius ClampStapler that pre-dates the underpinner. It is a heavy duty and clumsy unit used to make oak readymades back in the late 70's. It is difficult to adjust and has little to no place in a frame shop, and limited utility to an OEM. For the right situation, it might be a good buy, but mostly it's just obsolete.

Mark is right on the money. It is a single purpose fixture with little utility in a custom shop. The guns look like senco narrow crown staplers which are built like tanks and probably have more worth individually than as part of the fixture.

Many of you have probably sworn at the designer of this machine as you've strained to extract an inch of narrow crown staple from the crappy oak ready made you agreed to cut down in a weak moment.
