WCAF CHINESE DINNER SIGN UPS
OK Sign Ups for the Chinese Dinner and Limo Extravaganza are now open!

The limo tickets are $20 per person. This will get you transportation to and from the restaurant. We will have one limo leaving the restaurant earlier for those with early classes the next day, and we will probably stop at several hotels on the return.

Once at the restaurant, we sit at round tables of approximately 8 people. Everyone orders what they like and gets first helpings, then the food goes on a lazy susan for all to share. Need/want more food? Order more! Same for drinks. At the end of the evening, the restaurant will add up the total for the table and include a gratuity on the check. I ask that you round up to a number easily divisible by the number of people at the table and that is your share. Please-none of "but you had two beers and I only had egg rolls." Everyone at the table splits the bill evenly. If this won't work for you, please do not come.

In all of the years of doing this, the most expensive table was about $22 per person (including drinks/tip) and no one has ever left hungry. The average is about $16-18 per person, which for Las Vegas, is a great deal.

I also ask that shops/couples sit at different tables or next to someone you don't know, this is a great networking opportunity. and we're a very friendly bunch.

So, please do not make "reservations" on-line.

Send your $20 (US) per person made payable to Rob Markoff. PLEASE include a self addressed and stamped envelope so I can mail you your tickets.

Please also include a note telling me who is coming (names). If you send me a check with just you shop name, I will not know who to add to the list (and we won't leave anyone behind,)

We will meet at 7:00 PM on Tuesday January 27th in the motor lobby of the Hilton. There will be at least two limos and the first may make a round trip so we aren't so squished.

For the return, a limo will leave and make a trip directly to the Hilton, then return for the next load and if necessary make a third round trip with alternate hotel stops on the last trip.

We had a fantastic time at last year's Chinese Dinner. The limo was so jammed full that I balanced on one cheek the whole way and I believe I got to know Baer in a biblical way. He probably doesn't remember me, but I'll bring photos of our "limo child" who is now about 2 months old.

OK, OK before I get all sort of carping about being insensative.... Kirstie, are you OK now? Plaster or FG? Did they offer OP3 fiber glass?

OK, no I'm not such an insensative boob..... but with something like that (and I have 27 more surgery and 49 broken bones of experience) you can either cry, or go take some great meds and laugh. I'll take the latter thank you very much.

we will be there in spirit and look forward to 2010. it's killing me not to go to this show, but having to elevate this slinged arm every half hour for comfort was the last straw. have fun everyone and come back and tell us about the great bargains you found.
 
My wife and I just bought a frame shop in Johnson City, TN. We are coming to the Las Vegas show and would love to attend the chinese dinner and meet all you crazy people.

Is there room for two more? I can mail the check tomorrow (Tue) if I am sure we can attend. It sounds like a fun time and we want to meet as many people as we can while we are there.

1) Hold a seat for Kristin Stepek-Bashiers. I know she'll want at least one. Take it out of my hide when you see me Rob.

2) Larry, Johnson City! Are you from there? How many Broyles do/did you know? Did you ever meet Lawrence Broyles? You know that picture of that old white horse everybody seems to have...... that was his "Courtin' Horse"... like ta killed that poor thing running over to Vina's every night on a 5 mile round trip. Up hill. Both ways. :D After he'd worked his 12-14 hours a day. 6/wk. Must have put 5,000 miles on her. After they were married, Vina retired the ol' gal and treated her like a spoiled dog til she died.

Wife's family. Great Uncle Lawrence. Demanded to meet me for his 101st birthday. Wanted to meet the second Yankee to marry into the family. Wife's dad was the first. They didn't speak to him for close to 10 years.

We've just gotta get back there and see Harold and Phyllis. :D

sorry for the Hi-Jack Rob..... but I still call shot-gun.

At The Signature at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, get rooms from $89 per night via Travelzoo. That's 40% off and among the least expensive rates we've seen for a newer, well-known Vegas hotel. 2-night minimum required.
 
I'm in at Harrah's for $40 a night. Chose it because it is on the monorail.

And sign me up for the Chinese Dinner!

If I can remember it long enough, the check will be in the mail tomorrow... Wednesday.

I guess you better take my wife and I off the list for the Chinese Dinner. Lea Ann has been sick and has bronchitis. We are not sure we will be able to attend the trade show. I don't want to take up a spot when there might be someone else who wants to attend. We will just have to wait until next year to enjoy your company.

Hi Rob,

We have decided to come to WCAF after all, but we won't be at the dinner this year. I need to lay low with the arm and new knees. We plan to keep a leisurely schedule without deadlines and early evenings so I can continue with my physical therapy exercises.

The offer of a free room at Encore was the tipping point and we found flights on Virgin for $59. each way.

Have fun everyone, and we'll see you at the dinner in 2010. I'm sure our paths will cross at the show. :thumbsup:
