This post is for the dinner for the WCAF Show ONLY-

The dinner is ON! Reservations have been made and the limo's secured. The limo service has upgraded to brand new 30 passenger limos and we have two going to the restaurant and one returning making two trips so those that have an early day can return on the first limo and those who want to stay and talk can wait for the second trip. You should be back at the hotel by 10:30 PM.

I will try to have the driver stop at different hotels on the way back (in the event that you are not staying at the Hilton) but it may mean you have to go on the later limo to reach an out of the way hotel.

The limo will meet us in the motor lobby of the Las Vegas Hilton at 7:30 PM on TUESDAY January 29th.

http://www.lasvegaspartylimos.com/f650_gallery/index.htm

The cost of the limo is $20 per person. This is the fee for the limo only- dinner costs are as follows:

Again here are the "rules"-

1. YOU MUST COME/RIDE in the limo. Please don't tell me you are driving your own vehicle or riding with someone who is driving. If you want to come you must ride in the limo.

2. We sit at tables of 8. Each person orders whatever they want (drinks as well). Each person gets first helpings of whatever they ordered and then it goes on a lazy susan for all to share. Want more? Order more. At the end of the night, the check is presented to the table. It is rounded up to a number easily divisible by the number of people at the table, a generous gratuity is added and then the table splits the bill. No "but you had two beers and I only had egg rolls." The bill is divided evenly and all share the total cost. In all of the years I have been doing this, no one has ever gone hungry and the most anyone has ever paid is $22 including drinks and tip.

3. Please try to sit next to someone you don't know. Shops should split up so you have an opportunity to meet more people. IN THE EVENT THAT WE HAVE AN UNEVEN DISTRIBUTION (meaning there is one table with three or four people, the other tables will VOTE SOMEONE OFF and they will join the table with fewer people so we fill the tables up.

DO NOT POST "I am coming" to this thread unless it is just to let others know. If you really want to come, send me the following:

1. A check for $20 (US) per person that is attending. (You Canadians have NO SYMPATHY from me this year re: the exchange rate!)

2. A note telling me the names of who is attending and your E-MAIL address.

3. A Self Addressed STAMPED envelope so I may mail your limo tickets back to you. Canadians and Australians- I will hold your tickets for you and will e-mail you a confirmation that I have received your check. You can pick them up when we board the limos.

PLEASE help me by sending your reservations in early so that I may send your limo tickets back in your SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED envelope in enough time for you to receive it.

Make your check payable to Rob Markoff:

Send it with your note saying who is coming and your e-mail address and a self addressed STAMPED envelope to:

Gallery Services - LIMO DINNER

Thanks Rob,
My check will be in the mail on Wednesday.

Dave

Thanks Rob!

S.A.S.E. and Check is in the mail for:

Mike Labbe - Get The Picture
Andrew Langlois, CPF - Get The Picture

For those who have never attended, it's a fun time and a great bargain too!

Mike

Rob, are these limos wheel chair accessible?

and you are not going to use the tickets signed "TK" this year are you?

Baer (and all)-

I there is someone who requires transportation for a wheel chair, please let me know and I will look into a van with a wheel chair lift and extra headroom, or if that individual has their own transportation I would certainly make an exception. The restaurant is accessible.

If you or someone you know requires such an arrangement, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can procure the van in ample time for the event.

I'll make both threads "sticky", so they'll stay up on top of the list.

It's tradition.

There was some mention of earrings on another thread, and that reminded me...
Hey Val, speaking of earrings, we're all eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see your flamingos at the Chinese Dinner again this year.

It's a tradition, ya know. Somebody's gotta wear the flamingos, and nobody does it better'n you.:D

And Rob, isn't it you who buys a whole, smelly fish and grosses out your entire table every year? That's another fun tradition.

These are the things that make Rob's Chinese Dinner such a special occasion.

Got 'em packed already, Jim! I'd hate to disappoint anyone!

I think Jim might be as bored as I am today..........Val, it would behoove me to request that you take the opportunity to model my new earrings. Jim said it would be an entrepreneurial opportunity so I need to strike while the iron is hot or at least while the earrings are fresh........................I would be flattered and honored to have you debut them for me. Thank you in advance. Of course, there would be a small token of my appreciation. I can't cut you into the deal because Jim is already marketing them for me. Oh but to learn form the master.

Oh dear...

Uh...heh-heh, Kathy, I'm highly honored, but I'm afraid I must decline your generous offer, as I've already promised my Flamingos they would be going again to Rob's Chinese Dinner. And there's just no saying no to those Flamingos! You know how they get! (Thank you oh thank you Jim, I owe ya one!)

Also, as I'm post-meno-....uh.....haven't the need for that particular product for a few years now, I'm afraid I might not be the best model for the job. You understand, yes?

Hey! I know! Is Connie going this year? She'd be the perfect wom- uh.... person to model them for your entrepreneurial debut! And I know how close the two of you are, I'm sure she'd be delighted to help you out!

Hey Connie!! Oh Connnnnneeee! Kathy's gotta an offer you can't pass up!

Connnneeeee!!! (C'mon Connie, help me out here, pleeze?)

Jeff and I plan to come. Will send check tomorrow. Not sure about employees yet, so don't put them down. We have 4 people in Vegas besides ourselves and as most of them have never seen the strip, they will probably go off by themselves to play.

What if I'm in a class until 8 pm that night?

Should I duck out early? It's not a free class, so I'd rather not....but the limo ride sounds like fun!

Depending on the class, some "end" around 7:45 with time for q and a. And (no disrespect to instructors) there is always "ducking out early." If the instructor wants to come (or many in the class) we can make it work.

We will board the limos about 7:45. If there are enough people for two limos like last year, then one can leave a bit later. The restaurant is close by, and it takes time for them to get to everyone for drink orders as it is

Just let me know if you are a "late" person.

The class is Brian Wolff's class. I saw it and thought it was interesting (and also trying to maximize my educational opportunities). If you think I can do the limo then let me know, I will send you the check and take care of all that now. If not...let me know and I will just plan on the meeting up and being a "later".

dave.

dave, don't miss ANY of his class... just sign on for the "Late Shuttle". It's going to be the fun one any way... trust me. :D

Usually I bring the "kids" so I CAN stay up past 9. And by the way - last time I did bring my wife, you just had too much chinese wine to notice!

I just thought that was your daughter. You, John Ranes III, and Rob Markoff have a lot in common with "wives" young enough to be daughters. :D

Nice to be put in such fine company!

Hopefully, we get more signups before the big day.

Who else is going to join us?

Remember, there's a second dinner on Friday night too.... (PMA/PPFA event)

Would it be possible, Rob, that just after seating each could stand & introduce themselves so that we can get to know each other a bit better???

also - did you get my Grumble message I sent you?

Usually these things are HUGELY attended! I'm wondering if we are going to see general attendance down at the show(s)....

ME? Oh, shucks! It must be OOPS! because First Do No Harm was at less than 20 earlier in the week. I spent all day doing and redoing examples of everything for FDNH. I learn best from seeing the Real Thing, so that is the way I teach. Too bad if you learn another way... hehehe

Next week I start on OOPS! examples. Not as many of them... I think.

I'm starting to get excited!

The list is growing. I was getting worried there for a bit :)

It looks like a great turnout and i'm sure more will see this thread and want to join us.

Looks like I'll have to be removed from the list. Circumstances have occurred that I've had to make the decision to cancel my entire WCAF trip. I'm so disappointed!

So, take lots and lots of pictures, everyone!

So sorry Val. Hope everything evens out soon. Running your own shop is a huge responsibility just on you and I know how overworked you were at the end of the year. I know how much you love these conferences and I so wanted to meet you! How far is the drive from SF to Carson City?

We are on the dinner list as a maybe because I have had some asthma problems for the last month that won't seem to ease up. Seeing some more specialists this week, tests etc. and hoping for a better solution so that we can indeed still go even if it is at a slower pace. I even had the knee shots yesterday so you know I am serious about going! Still 50/50. Hope to see you all there.

We have a few things we really want to look into at the shows and a full schedule of classes, some of which I may have to just skip in order to pace myself.

So far no WCAF packets. Have others arrived?

yes - our badges arrived a week ago

Mike

Mike

Anyone know the berst number to call? I keep getting recordings on the contacts page on WCAF.

We received the trade show only badges for 2 staff attending with other companies they work for, not for the four of us who are taking all the classes.
Thanks

Val, I'm really bummed you won't be going to Vegas this year! I was looking forward to catching up with you, but I fully understand. Rest up, and I have no doubt all your customers will be most indulgent.

And Kirstie, I sure hope you don't have to cancel too. I'd mention that clean desert air, but I imagine you have to drive a couple of hours outside of Las Vegas before exiting the smog blankie. Don't worry about the tickets for classes; last year I got mine just a few days before the show. I think everyone will probably have them next week.

My sister, who is not taking classes, received her badge last week. I just received my badge, along with class registrations, in today's mail.

Val, I'm sorry you won't be there. I was hoping to meet you.

Val,
Sorry you aren't coming to Vegas. I was also looking forward to meeting you!

Kirstie,
I hope the specialist can fix your asthma. I only know what mild asthma is like, but I have been using 'Oxis' for many years now and am under full control! Hardly ever get a twinge now!

Val, I'm sorry you won't be there too. I enjoyed meeting you last year, your enthusiasm is contagious.

I received our badges and class tickets today in the mail.
