yup, i'm posting this in the right spot, I really do have some warped moulding, lengths of wooden sticks that aren't straight.

Its LJ's Stradavarius line, the big wide format. Against the straight edge on my saw, the 48-inch leg bends away almost an inch!

The saw cuts very accurately, and the mitre sander works great too. But getting the last two corners to come in isn't going to work. I'd be better off making a circle!

I've got lots of ideas, including fudging the mitre angle for a greater-than 45-degree, just want to hear what some of the other favorite remedies are for making the moulding succumb to your wishes.

Edit:
In no way am I trying to demean LJ or their products. The above mention is only for reference. Its a beautiful moulding line, aptly named.

Even if you managed to get the corners to join, I doubt the frame will lay flat. I can sometimes work with badly warped narrow mouldings, but never the wider ones. Send it back!

1. Put it in a mailing tube, and wrap it festively. Give it to your LJ rep for Christmas.
2. Cut it into short lengths and make little business card stands...give them to businesses in your area.
3. Place between two sawhorses with bowed edge facing up. Attach concrete block to center of length. Wait.
4. Become a Cooper.

Actually, I can tell you how to join the frame with nice tight joints, but, for the life of me, I can't figure out why I would do that.

Reminds me of the story of the young man going through his grandmother's effects. He came across a small box filled with small pieces of string. The box had "Pieces of string too short to be of any use" handwritten on it.

Yeah, send it back!

Larson-Juhl has a very good, responsive customer service.

Well yeah Pat, there's that too. I figured if I posted this here I could actually avoid trying to join this frame, and waste time reading all the forums!

and upon further review, based on given testimony (including true consideration given to the cinder block idea), I'll have them replace the one 48-inch leg that really is that bad. The other sides all seem to be within tolerances.

And truly Wally, what's your secret?? :icon11:

"2. Cut it into short lengths and make little business card stands...give them to businesses in your area."

If you are serious, even a tiny bit...please splain! I like this idea. I keep mountains of little bits and would love to use them sensiblly. My miserly frugality will be vindicated.
