WARNING...framers.com

I just got an email from a "sports brokerage" company saying that there was a request for me to join their site, framers.com.

If I clicked on their link I would be automatically enrolled with them.

I didn't request anything and so I tried to go to the site before clicking on anything and there is no framers.com.

If you get one of these email be very suspicious. The url of the link had some curious destinations in the name.

Just a warning, I'm not sure who they are and wanted to warn the less paranoid Grumblers out there to be careful before anything happens.

Thanks for the warning.

When in doubt, one should never click on any link in an email of suspicious origin.

You can hover the mouse over the link and look at the bottom of the screen (status bar) and see what it says. Or type the URL directly instead of clicking on the link they sent you.

Appreciate the warning. The web is an awesome source of info, but there's the down side to it, too.

No I ran a whois.sc and then reverse searched the phone number and address. Then I checked an old web cache of framers.com and saw that it was the exact same site as framer.com

Well, according to Google Trends, these sites are just a waste of time anyways. Right?

nah. More than half of our new customers come as a direct result of the website, based on some of those keywords mentioned in the other thread: "custom picture framing", "custom framing", "picture framing in RI", "sport jersey framing", "military medals framing", "certified picture framer", "picture framing basics", "wedding invitation framing", etc

People often search by what their project is, instead of by company or trade name. Maybe that's a factor in those stats?

It's effective and inexpensive. Definately not a waste of time.
