Wanted Ideas to back light piece

I have a customere who wants to be able to back light a canvas. I'm sure this has been done before but where do I start. Thanks in advance.

rope light comes to mind, but you need to be mindfull of heat.
Low volt haligon also comes to mind or the blessings of all things bountiful: fiber optics, but you would never be able to move it elsewhere.
