I got in this AM and had 16 e-mail messages, some from names on the grumble, but all at a different e-mail address than the one I posted. I am deleting all of them without opening them, and I suggest you all do the same unless you are certain of where the e-mail came from. The Subject on 3 of them is "collective brain suck", but 1 is from Marc Lizer and 2 from another name I don't recognize(Lisa Cook). There are several requests for prints from names I don't know, and even some ATTN DEALERS looking for McNight prints or Batemen prints. Be careful out there!! Oh , and if any of you really did e-mail me,sorry but I didn't want to risk it.

I did just sign on to PPFA OLE, and I was wondering if this was related. Did you receive any e-mails about the collective brain suck?

DB,
Marc posted both on the Grumble and OLE. Sounds like your getting OLE Mail, which is what I got this morning.

Thanks--I just registered and got caught off guard...I did not expect that influx of email and I have had virues come through that way twice this year. Guess it can't hurt to be overly cautious!

DB,

If you don't want to receive all the individual emails, you can subscribe to the DIGEST version where you will receive one email per day which includes a summary header at the top and then the text of each individual email. We find the digest more convenient and read it as we would the morning newspaper.

I set up a filter to sort all mail from the PPFA's Online Exchange in it's own PPFA Folder. Since all the mail somes to the exact same name each time it works really well and helps sort the "good stuff" from the trash. Plus, I can look at all the PPFA stuff at one time without seeing notes from Aunt Sue & Spam mixed in.

Just a thought -- but I found the little bit of organization better than using Digest and faster to sort through than the digest.

Did the messages that you were getting have attachments?

If not, they were just fine.

It is when you have an attachment, or a script in an e-mail message that you have a potential for trouble.

There is a worm out there that does read unread messages in your e-mail folders and then sends it's self out to the person that sent it, but you would have to post the original message, and in this case you did not.

The Online Exchange software is setup to prevent the spread of a worm or virus directly through the list. That is why I require plain text formatted messages only. Much to the chagrin of AOL 6 users who must stand on their heads to send a message.

Cheers,
