Very cool. And great to see what medal is what . I have some of my Father`s here, nice to know exactly what they are...Never talked about them. L.

Thank You.

These are rare for us. We get a lot of WWll, Korea and even DesertStorm but very few of my Vietnam vets. Anyone else notice this?

PS If you have done any feel free to post any Vietnam framed stuff on this thread.

I agree.......... maybe only 4-5 in the last 20 years or so.

The most memorable was for a firefighter who served several tours as a door gunner on an air sea rescue helicopter.

Never thought about it, but I would agree with that.

I'm working on a neat WWII set right now for a really interesting guy.

Ok this is the first attachment I've tried. This is from a Navy Vet. The 2 ships he served on and patches and medals. This was my first military frame also.

Very nice.
Thank you for posting it.
(check your mail box)

As I do these VietNam Vets.
I try to always thank them for their service and welcome them home.
As well as choosing us to help them display their service to us.

Gumby,
I don't see anything in my mailbox
I sent it to your email mail not PM sorry
I do like the fact you included pictures of the ships he served on nice touch.
Anyone else have one they have done for a Vietnam Vet?

I don't have a picture of it, but it is memorable to me. I had a Vietnam Vet that brought his dad's service memorabilia and his Vietnam memorabilia. His dad's was on one side and his was on the other side in the same frame. It was really a vary emotional piece to complete.

Don't have pictures.......didn't have a digital when I did that one.

My client said he was just now coming to terms with things. He hated everything about the war. He helped in the retrieval of bodies. He joined the Navy to avoid being drafted. Anyway he had recently been in touch with some of his shipmates and was feeling better about his service, so had this done.

I actually keep a seperate list of Veterans who have framing done by us & make sure I call them every Veterans Day, Just to say Thank You.

Did you scan and clean up those original photos before sticking them in Gumby?
Another 10-15 years and they will be salvageable. . . along with so much more from VN.

I've helped a Viet Nam vet with the framing and preservation of his personal effects and his collection of WWII militaria. He came up with a frame design he likes and mills it himself. I used to cut the frames for him but he eventually got a power miter box and is now doing all the frame construction himself. He has some particular mats that he likes so I stock them and cut his mats and glass for him
He is/was a Pathfinder/ Special Ops kinda guy, and went from a buck private to retirement (in the reserves, but activated from time to time) as a bird colonel just a couple years ago. While in the reserves he worked for the USPS and retired from his postal route at about the same time.
He has an extensive collection of European front air war militaria. Last count I had helped him with a little over 325 pieces.
He's a private person so even if I had photos I wouldn't be inclined to post them. He did 4 tours "in country" though he hints that Viet Nam wasn't necessarily where the action was. Kinda guy that I'm glad we have on our side.

I don't think I've done any other Viet Nam era military collections. We have 2 Naval stations here and a Navy retirement home, but most of the framing is WWII related.
