Today while cutting a 4 inch circle mat into 8 ply rag mat board the blade snapped in two breaking a quarter inch off the end of the blade. No crud in the board, back cutting support looked fine.


Anyone else ever have this happen?

I've not seen this happen, but Brian Simard of Valiani NA, might reply on this also.

Are you using the standard blades or the premium blades?

A 4 inch diameter circle should not be an issue....even with 8ply.

What happened after you changed to a new blade and made a second attempt? I'm assuming that you did and that it worked successfully?

Yes, upon installing a new blade there was no trouble with cutting numerous mats.

It was just shocking to experience as the blade section went flying out upon the release of the cutting head.

Hopefully it is a bizarre once in a lifetime occurance.
