This Doug Hyde print arrived today I took one look and thought "Snowflake (artcare) with baroque ruby bevelled accent.

Then I asked Pat what sort of hearts we had on the craft side "Oh, she said, there's peel offs in silver, gold, red & hollographic, in about 20 sizes. Then there's ......................"

So I opted for little red peel offs and stuck them at random over the mat.

Simple, and hopefully someone passing our window will think, effective!

O wehen Iopened the thread I thought you were gonna give us gift ideas. I'm stuck, 'cause my wife has everything.

Now what???

Nice frame job.

Now, if I could just find that soap box...something about being told by Madison Ave when and how to express my love for my wife...ah, just as well...probably would have been called an old curmudgeon anyway. First celebrities, now manufactured holidays...oy.

John , looks great!

Mike, I once had a guy waiting for me wearing nothing but bubble wrap. Why don't you try that for the woman who has everything! ;)

Ha! I told someone yesterday that I didn't "celebrate" Valentine's Day and started spouting off about the same thing, Wally.

Ya gotta hand it to the florists though. What a great job they've done making red roses synonomous with the holiday.

By the way, John.
Cute print and a very nice frame job.

And I love the way their roses go to $90 a dozen on V Day!. Imagine if we raised our prices %800 for Christmas.....

And I agree with Wally: I hate holidays that Hallmark & Madison Avenue invented.

How about a "National Framing Day"??

What do you give the person that has EVERYTHING?

Penicillin!

The publisher that I ordered these prints from are called DeMontfort Fine art. I made the order several weeks ago, from a new rep, I specified NO MOUNTS - I do not do publishers' mounts.

Order arrived - all prints mounted. I rang them, they wrote the mounts off - credit note to follow, now I feel guilty - so I will sell their mounts (sorry - that's MATS) at trade and stick the proceeds in the charity box - local childrens' hospice.

Have a look at DeMontfort

Oh, and PS I know Valentines day is commercial, but I don't have a problem with anything celebrating LERRRRRRRRRRRVVVVE.

I once turned up to meet someone covered in balloons - holding a pin......................

Boy was HE pissed!

Love the balloon idea!!

We just got a valentine order.... a totally SMASHED answering machine. Seems the husband finally got fed up with trying to program it. (Why read the directions, when you can screw it up on your own?) We're going to shadowbox it, without glass, and have the busted wires and cords falling out the front and "through" the sides of the shadowbox.

Temper tantrums make great gifts!

(Will send photos when finished.)

Taking Feb 14th and 15th off to take my loving beautiful wife to
Keswick Hall

About a two hour drive through Virginia, afternoon tea, massages for both of us, dinner, state room w/balcony, breakfast in the room Wednesday morning and then a leisurely drive through the Virginia countryside back home on Wednesday.

I refused to buy flowers for my wife for over 2 decades. It blew my mind to think of paying big money for something that was dead / dying. That made absolutely no sense to me.

Until that fateful day when I was in the Sam's Club (yeah, yeah, yeah... I know...) and much to my delight, I can buy 2 DOZEN long stemmed roses for $13 TOTAL.

She gets flowers a few times a year now.

And you know what? All florists buy tons of those roses weeks in advance, stack'em up in fridges so they can deliver them on that fateful day. That's why roses bought for good money on V Day, die a very quick death!

Once I spent over $150 on a dozen (incl. delivery) only to have them die within 2 days! I made the florist replace them...

I gave Pat a pack of Rose seeds last year - she went ballistic - couldn't understand it.

Getting her a triffid this year, oh and she asked for a real animal skin coat - I'm getting her a donkey jacket.

I love mixed nuts. For my birthday one year, my husband gave me a jar of them, wrapped in the Sunday comics. I thought, okay, that's funny, it's a lead to the "rest" of my birthday present. There wasn't a "rest". That was it. Guess I shoulda been grateful, but, for my birthday???....I get flowers now. We don't talk about that birthday.

He had flowers delivered to me at the shop on New Year's Day, my first "official" day as new owner.Aaaawwww! Now, that was thoughtful and they lasted nearly 2 weeks! I keep fresh flowers in the shop all the time now. Doesn't cost much, and sure adds to the ambience. I love my Muffin Man!

Chocolate...anything chocolate!
We have a great chocolate shop here in Menomonie...Legacy Chocolates. They make THE BEST truffels with THE BEST chocolate. And they also have great coffees. They have been written up in Newsweek and Better Homes and Gardens...check them out, its worth it and they ship anywhere. If you do get some let me know how you like them...I think they're the best!

Oh, and sorry for the sidetrack, the picture you did looks great! Got chocolate on the brain!

db...found the same deal at our local BJ's wholesale. We buy 2 dozen a week and split them with the MIL. The local Publix has cut bunches 3/$10 (astalaria (sp?), snaps, babies breath, carnations, etc) so it is rare that we don't have fresh cut flowers in the house.

Instead of "Framer's Day" we should just attach ourselves to an existing holiday and push it in our direction. What better than say "Graduation Day"...get that diploma Framed!!!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread.

Steven,

Yes, bottom weighted - 4" top/sides & 5" bottom, didn't really need it because paper margins are also 'weighted' - did that on automatic pilot!

Sold it already! I know what will happen tomorrow, ........ "You had a picture in your window yesterday - had hearts on it ....."

I have 2 more.

No, the real florists (not grocery stores) don't buy roses weeks in advance.
Roses just don't last long once they are cut.
They jack up the prices for Valentines Day because of demand.

That would be Alstroemeria, Wally. Yeah, I knew that degree in horticulture was good for something.

The florist industry has worked hard on marketing their products.
When I was in college this was a big topic of discussion.

I dunno, Wally. The graduation day angle would work better if they got the diploma that day instead of it arriving a couple of months later.
