We are having problems v-nailing profiles such as LJ Confetti - the larger profile. when the foot comes down the profile rocks backwards and separates at the rabit - Larson tech support suggested a triangle out of plexi between the profile and the foot. although the plexi bends into the scoop the corner still separates although it appears to come together after removing it from the machine - sometimes -

the profile is too narrow to use both feet - the lower one will be right over the rabit.

suggestions?

Rocks backwards? That seems odd. Could there be a glob of dried glue or some other debris under the wood? Do you have the fences adjusted to vertical position?

It could be a problem with the position of the clamp pad. Make sure you don't have it placed too far back. Also, before you hit the pedal, the pad should be within about 1-1/2" of the top of the moulding. The travel of the clamp is over 2", but pneumatic cylinders often do not have full pressure at the far limits of travel.

Which pad are you using? The right-angle pad that extends out onto the moulding would be my first choice. The clamping action should firmly hold the pieces of wood against the machine's table surface.

Check your air pressures. Sometimes mouldings join better if the frontal pressure is higher than the upper pressure, or vice-versa. I usually adjust both of them to about 50 PSI for soft woods & poly, and up to about 100 PSI for the hardest of woods.

Also, try reducing the descent speed, which makes the clamp descend slower and contact the moulding more softly.

If you still have trouble, please call me at 614-868-5554. I will go to my machine with pieces of the same moulding and we'll work it out in real time.
