Hi, Robert, and welcome to The Grumble.

(Pretty bold for a first post, BTW.)

I haven't seen a v-nailer gun. Some of us reactionaries use a slight-headed pinner (like a Senco.) Usually that involves nailing into the side of the frame and filling the holes with nail-hole putty, but I have been known to nail from the bottom of the frame across the miter on wider mouldings.

Another interesting joining tool for some profiles is the detail biscuit joiner. It's not real fast, but makes very strong invisible corners.*

I have an underpinner, but I like choices.

*Edit: Really it's not so much the corners that are invisible, but the fasteners. Didn't want to confuse or irritate the literal-minded among us.

Robert...
A friend of mine and a fellow framer has a "Manual" Vnailer for sale...It could be attached to your work bench or be set up to be free standing...If you are interested let me know and I will get you guys together...I think he wants about $250.00 for it and comes with a ton of Vnails...I have seen the frames he turned out with this rig...they were nice....Could be a good way for you to start.....

Why on earth would you want to start a custom framing business? Do you want to end up like one of us?

John

Why do you say that?

How did you end up? I just got a deal and couldn't let it go I got:

Fletcher Mat Cutter wall mount, A a green choppper don't remember the name now and about 7 difference type of moulding from china I may get a v-nailer pneumatic this week all for $2300..

Hey john, what he saved on the equipment, he can spend on education....

enjoy Robert0959, and Miami can always use a new <strike>flamer</strike> framer. :D

If I wasn't established at the opposit end of the country, and happy, and married, and old, and fat, and straight..... I think I would head for South Beach territory and flame gushy big beautiful totally over the top giant gold . .. . oh, wait a minute, I do that here too.....

Robert, work this like a business but when it or if it stops being fun.... get out. Life is to short to not enjoy this business.

Just remember IT IS A BUSINESS. and also remember: it can feed ON your soul, or it can feed your soul; you get to decide.
