This week, I have two "fixes". Both were recently framed by a competitor. One I'm certain came from a big box store and I am fairly sure the other came from the same store. The first piece is a 20x24 photo taken by a widely known wildlife photographer. The photo is attached to regular foamboard with four pieces of double stick tape... one across each corner diagonally. The second piece is a plain old reproduction poster, attached to an acid free board with tiny corner pockets that were useless and four pieces of double stick tape. I'm beginning to wonder if all the progress we've made in educating the public about the best framing and preservation practices are being ripped to shreds. In my opinion, either of these pieces could have been framed by an amateur at home. Oh, and the piece I'm certain came from a big box store... the customer was told that in order to get the poster to lay flat, it would have to be glued and would not look good.
