I take some of my knowledge for granted. My husband pointed out that I make good use of some of my skills from prior careers in this life (this is my life now, not a career!!).

When I have a multiple opening mat project or a multiple item shadowbox, I do a layout on my Publisher software by making the opening/object sizes appropriate to my measurements, working with the border measures I sold the project with ... but then I fine tune it and print a tiled group of sheets (if it is larger than 8.5 x11 - and it always is!)and position this on the mat board (after "flipping" the print file) and put pin pricks where the corners are, draw my lines and do the mat cutting needed (since I don't have a CMC (yet!) - and really enjoy these more elaborate projects!! (Should I have take a breath there?!)

It has made the layout process more efficient as was evident on my recent Hole in One Golf Ball shadowbox (which came out wonderful!)

Do you have any tricks for layouts?!

Thanks, Roz

seems loke a bunch of work, but you only have to cut the mat once. i guess if it works for you it is a good idea.
