The gallery recently purchased a digital camera. Everyday it seems the we find a new use for this device.

1. Remember customers decor after a home visit.

2. Putting away the frames after a customer went home to talk to the significant other. We take a picture and write down the numbers on the picture.

3. Sending pictures of artwork to customers.

4. Sending pictures to the grumble.

5. Taking pictures of frames to send to clients after the reps visit.

6. Using the software that comes with it to enhance photos for the website.

We seem to like our digital camera.

Don't forget digital inventory for galleries using gallery software.

Taking photos of pieces coming in for framing with scuffs, bends, tears, stains.. any type of damage for your own records.

Taking photos of all works coming in (put these on a zip disk) for insurance purposes.

I love my camera and have saved an incredible amount of time, especially for art placement being able to just e-mail images to prospective clients and not having to schlepp five paintings to another city for their viewing.

Don't forget desktop publishing for your store:
-brochures
-artist tear sheets/bios
-informative pamphlets/stickers
-packets of info for various classes/seminars
-mailers
-cards
-signs
-displays

I want one!!! Please bring me one for Christmas, Santa!!!

I'm not totally worthless. I can always be used as a bad example...

Why wait for Xmas? Go to www.Ubid.com . Better yet tell your significant other to go there. I got mine for half of what my brother paid for his.

By the way we have a Kodak DC290.

Our favorite use is to take pictures--before glazing--of our outstanding works then add these to our "scrapbook"--stuff like shadowboxes, hand wrapped fabric mats, continuous liners, etc etc. You know--the ultrapricey stuff.

My fave is the Nikon 880 coupled with the HP P100 (I think) the only printer out there that will print off the flashcard without having to go thru the computer.

My favorite source for stuff (lenses, filters, etc for the Nikons) is Canoga Camera in CA (on the web at www.canogacamera.com) free shipping, really great pricing and the guys there really know digital.

No, not apaid ad for them, but they're truly helpful. Also avoids paying my TN 8 1/4% sales tax

I probably pay a little more for my digital stuff when I buy from the store down the block but after all he brings his framing to my shop and we both pay taxes in our town.

Funny how small business folks bash the big framing marketers for tough competition but when it comes to buying techie stuff anything goes.

My fujifilm FinePix 1400 and my Windows ME refuse to talk to each other. I still have pics from the Kentucky show on my smartcard. Any alternative downloading ideas?

I also have a DC290 and have been having lots of fun with it for about a year now.

There are some really good accessories available at http://www.photosolve.com
I haven't bought any yet, but will be getting some in the new year.

My in house digital expert says there are also several other brands of printers that will do the same thing. If he gets time and there is an interest , he will look up which ones.

Printers, Olympus makes two different size dye-sub printers for the consumer market that both print direct from the card.

Windows ME, so much fun for digital cameras Yippeee!

The best alternative is to get yourself a USB card reader, not only is it faster (1mb/sec avg.) than using the camera it also allows you to write back to the disk and do any maintenance it may require over the coming years.

However the most common problem with ME and your digital camera is the port settings are often at a transfer rate to slow for the camera itself, in addition the ports may be configured incorrectly with addresses out of sequence. If your 'puta is new then it is most likely that the ports are wrong take it back to the dealer if you are unsure about how to configure the ports yourself.

Please contact me via e-mail if you think I can help you out.

Your best alternative is NOT to purchase a smartmedia card reader. They cost between $50 and $80 usually and it should be the last thing you do to get the pictures from your camera. You shouldn't have to spend extra money for your camera to work.

I would say what you should do is re-install the program that allowed you to download the pictures from your camera. If that doesn't work, contact Fuji through thier website or a help number that is probably on the camera's instruction booklet.

And Just so you know IRQ addresses don't go out of sequesnce, but they may conflict. And even that is something you would have to do manually, and I'm sure you didn't do that.

I have a 1400 for over a year and it works great with my windows 98. It connects only via USB. In my literature it connects to win98 and nothing else but that was before winME came out. I vote for making sure it says it works with winME, reinstalling and failing that, call Fuji.
