I have just now signed up for web hosting at MS Office Live.

I have already developed a web site on my computer. Can I upload it to Office Live? :kaffeetrinker_2:

My domain name is from godaddy. I just finished the process to move my domain name to office live. I know it will take some time for the process to be completed.

One more question: Does MS office live support MS Frontpage?

Any techs out there that can help me?

Just checked my domain name transfer to MS officelive. It is now working.

Still need to know about uploading the web site that I designed that is
on my computer.

Do you need the navigation shortcuts to get to the "Turn on 3rd party features" area?

Yes, you can upload sites designed in most any software to your OL domain once the redelegation has been successfully completed. Anything currently uploaded will disappear when the redelegation is complete.

You do not need to activate advanced design features.
You will need to activate 3rd party design and then follow the procedures to upload.

Once you activate 3rd party, all OL features, templates, options, etc are gone. Also, it is very likely that almost all support disappears because the support does not deal with any 3rd party issues.

Frontpage support: if you mean, allow to upload a site designed in front page.... likely. If you mean technical support for frontpage, highly unlikely.

There are some tutorials available from the online help sections regarding what happens when you activate 3rd party functions.

I have admin control in half dozen OL sites, but have never looked at what happens when you activate 3rd party features. Most of the forums will tell you that you are on your own once you do this because it is intended for designers who know how to use the software used for site design. I may be able to point you in directions for help if you fall into a deep hole.

Thanks Rick,

Will give that a try.

I was asking about working on my web side with MS Frontpage.

Would appreciate it if you could send me the navigation shortcut

Rick,

Haven't gotten your message yet.

I think I have found the shortcuts but can't try them.
MS Office Live is experiencing technical problems. :faintthud:

My luck first day with office live. :(

Hi Ray,

I used the forum "Send an email" to the email used in your profile.

OL has been going through significant software updates for about 2 weeks now. If you are using IE7 and have FireFox, try it instead. I've found that on many occasions, IE7 has problems and FF works. The US based MS tech support team uses FF as their default browser.

If you want to, use the contact link on my pen site to get an email to me.

Go to 'website' using left menu items
Then, upper right beneath the ad, use "Site Actions"
There will be a dropdown to select "Activate 3rd party design"
Follow the prompts from there. I haven't used it, but if you have troubles, I have a OL domain that I use for testing where you can upload and test if you want.

Thanks Rick,

Can't remember which e-mail account I used. Will try them all.

Jerry,

I use IE7.

In order to take advantage of some of the things Front Page does, the web server must have Front Page Extensions. This means it needs to be a Windows server (lots of hosting sites offer Linux or Windows servers, with a slight premium on Windows), and then have Front Page Extensions installed, and possible enabled for your account, to work.

I'm not having any issues connecting to any my sites using IE7 and wouldn't use IE8 until OL adds it to the compatability list. It says a lot when the Microsoft OfficeLive Support folks (Salt Lake City based) use FireFox by default.

*To use Microsoft Office Live, your computer must meet one of the
following requirements:

*Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 7, running on Microsoft Windows XP,
Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista. You can download
'_Internet_Explorer_'
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx) from the
Windows Internet Explorer page
