Grr......:fire:

I like Crescent mats, but I'm getting pretty peeved
about the color variations I'm seeing. Just got in a
piece of 1651 Flaxen, which according to my sample
and our scrap is a warm color edging toward peachy
tones. Cut it up, got halfway through a float hinging,
and I realized it's completely off. It's a whole
different color, yellowish instead of what it should
be. This has also happened on some of the Selects,
and it's just ridiculous.

grr....snap.....snap...

I hate when that happens!!!!

I had a similar thing with a NB metal moulding....my sample is a lovely dark brown; what I received was a much lighter color brown. I put everything together and was doubting myself about the whole color scheme (why did I design this...???).

Marcia helped me out though and sent me a new sample (thanks Marcia!!!) but now I no longer have that nice dark brown.... sigh....

You will be seeing a lot of that in the near future. Crescent's Berkshire line had about 80% of the colors discontinued and reintroduced under new numbers. In the high end lines it is more difficult for them to do it that way. It took several months for me to be able to get all of the new colors in and the old numbers were not being stocked by my vendor any longer.

The mat board companies only laminate the surface papers to the boards. Many of the paper manufacturers have gone under or have changed items to fight the effects of the recession. This is also the reason for the price hikes since everybody is selling less and it costs the same to run the business.

Hi, Shayla!

I just checked my own stock -- your yellowish Flaxen doesn't by any chance have a production code close to 052109 (mmddyy format) that has a little bit of flimsiness to it, compared to other Rag Mats? I have two sheets of flaxen myself, and the one from May sounds a lot like yours, although the other, from production code 092109, is dead-on colour to what it's supposed to be, which leads me to speculate that they had an issue in May that they fixed in September.

Have you contacted Crescent about this? I've had nothing but positive things to say about their customer service; Chris Koeppen has been my contact there and he helped me a great deal back when there was issues with the core. I recommending contacting them on this.
