I am try to install Kaspersky AV and have uninstalled AVG 8 but it is still not gone and KAV gives me an option to remove it and no luck.

Any advice would be apreciated.

Jeff:

  • Click Start -> RUN -> type REGEDIT and click OK
  • Expand +HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • Below that, expand +SOFTWARE
  • Left click once on AVG to highlight this item
  • Hit the DELETE key on your keyboard, and confirm that you indeed wish to delete it.
Reboot and try installing again, it should work (I did that last week...;))

Thanks Paul, it worked like a charm. I used your link earlier to get the 3 user license KAV and it is a great deal.

I need to order another 3 user since I have 5 computers that need it. I just wanted to give it a shot before buying the 2nd copy.

Go to this site and check out "Revo Uninstaller" at http://www.revouninstaller.com/ It is FREEWARE and has no "junk" (advertising, etc.) with it at all. You don't even need to register it. Just download it and install. It can remove "everything" connected to whatever software you choose to uninstall. (The only thing it does not do is delete the person who developed the software you want to delete... :smileyshot22: lol) I have been using it for about a month now... i uninstalled AVG, Collage Maker, and a few games so far and am very, very satisfied!

I did get the Revo but then I was going to have to figure it out. Paul's method takes 10 seconds with no downloads.

Jeff, THINK ahead... the next time you want to uninstall software it takes a lot less time than uninstalling a software then searching how to remove something that "uninstall" did not... :icon19:

Paul, can I uninstall Norton the same way and do I remove the entie Symantec folder to do so.
