Hi-
Wondering if any of you use Tyvec for dust covers?
We have been using it for a month or so and we're debating whether or not to keep using it after we finish this roll, mainly because it's quite pricey. One thing that's nice about it is that it sticks very well to the ATG, seems like it may hold up longer than Kraft paper. It looks nice too. Other than that are there other advantages that you know of? Is it acid free? Maybe we should only be using for specific projects. Looking for any and all advice about this stuff!!!

Thanks!

Pricey? @ $2/yd in 50 yd rolls, concervation approved, meets FACTS requirements, pretty white for wrapping gifts in with ATG... because it doesn't tear, won't puncture, and bugs won't eat it.

Kraft paper tears, punctures, bugs eat right through it, ages and off gasses. But is cheaper..

Use Tyvek on the nice stuff, and Krap on the cheap.

Oh Baer....I can always count on you for flat-out honest facts! Thanks. You've convinced me.

We probably will call Franks, I think we paid more than $2/yd. Maybe I'm wrong? More importantly, I see your point about the benefits of Tyvec compared to Krap paper, I was terribly undereducated before tonight!!! I'm glad I asked!

By the way, it was great to meet you at the WCAF Trade show in January.

Tyvek (semi-permeable vapor barrier) also slows the rate of change of relative humidity inside the frame package when the frame is moved from place to place. Hence it's use in home building as part of the overall insulation package.

This feature is important where I am since, during the summer, some of the framed art will go from my somewhat climate controlled building (72 degrees, 60-70% RH) into the 90+degree/90%+RH Florida sunshine.

I don't use it all the time, but save it for those customers that I know move their art around a lot.

re: Cartalk//the tappet brothers motto

The Tappet Brothers are a "hoot"!

I don't like anything about cars and I don't KNOW anything about cars, but their "Cartalk" show is good for lots of laughs.....especially when husband and wives are involved in the discussion about their car problems!
