1. Has anyone ever seen dustcover material like that in the attached picture? It's from a job that came in for a refit; the number on the shop sticker is out of service so we're thinking the place is no longer around.

The black side has a slightly plastic, slick feel to it, almost like Tyvek. The other paper side is about like Crescent's Dark Umbria in color. ATG sticks to it well, and the black side is somewhat water repellent. It's also quite strong.

Ever seen it? Where did it come from?

2. Does anyone here use these canvas spring clips, Larson's item #24825? I very rarely use them and I'm two short for something I'm working on, so I really don't want to deal with a whole box or bag of them, and especially don't want to deal with shipping from Chicago just for two of them. Anyone care to help a fellow Grumbler out? I'll buy you a drink in Baltimore.

Dave, I have some of those clips. I got them from Ron a few years ago when I put out a plea because I didn't want to order 1k of them for one project. Ron sent me many more than I needed. Give me an address and I will send them off!

The clips I have are 2" long, 1/4" wide. If this is the same as yours (and they sure look the same) I can pop a couple of them in the mail to you. Just let me know an address.

The latest PFM has a whole article on dustcovers by Hugh. He described a dustcover by Resources International, that has a white side with Zeolites in it and a dark side with active carbon. It might be that.

Southern Moulding is currently featuring black kraft paper that has a latex coating on one side. It's supposed to be more puncture resistant than the ordinary kind. I haven't tried it, but it may be similar to what you pictured.

That paper looks like some sort of "mil spec" wrapping paper. The framers supplier might have gotten that as a closeout from their supplier.

I remember once I bought 3 rolls of fancy 36" gift wrapping paper from a florist wholesaler for about $25 a roll - 800ft rolls. The patterns were very basic, but nice. They were closeouts from their source. ;)
