how do I turn off the auto cleaning on my 9900?

I found nozzle check and have turned it off, but it still went through a cleaning before printing the nozzle pattern test.

I can feel the ink leaving my bloodstream....!

I'm running on snow lepard mac

I can't help you but Dave at Frame Makers can. He has the 9900 and turned it off in short order.

thanks Jeff; I can always count on you and Dave....hopefully he chimes in tomorrow.

Welcome to the world of Epson technology, where the computer chip and the sensors in the printer decide if it should siphon more of your valuable ink until the sensor thinks it is not clogged. This has been characteristic of the Epsons and the Ultrachrome inks. Nobody likes this.

Do you realize how expensive the ink really is?
One gallon costs: $1,462.51 !!!

I notice that clogging usually occurs when I print canvas, then switch back to photo paper. I dont know why, but it does. If the printer sits idle for two days in a row, I have to do a nozzle check. Sorry I dont have an answer for your original question. However, I have read there have been issues with the firmware of the 9900, where even if you set the auto cleaning to OFF, the printer will on occasion go thru a cleaning cycle. Best to check the Epson support site to see if this issue was resolved. If so, you may have to download an updated version of the firmware.

Menu> Printer Setup> Auto Nozzle Check> Off

This should stop it. I have it set like this and have had no auto cleans since.

Mine used to do an auto check and clean every time I turned it on till I did this.
