A few weeks ago, we were working on a diploma that called for a top mat of TV 2349, a black core, after having determined that choice from the 4" sample, a white core (TV 1949). The mat came in at least 2 shades whiter than the Ivory Art it was supposed to be. I called LJ, our supplier, under the suspicion that they pulled the wrong board from their stock (there was no number on the back). They dutifully took back the board and replaced it ... same problem. The black core board was completely different from the white core. I called Turner to have them check their stock ... after checking, they confirmed that their two boards were different, too.
I called Crescent and explained the problem. They informed me that they had become aware of the issue a few months ago (had to do with the opacity of the top layer), and had corrected it. They sent me four sheets of the updated 2349... perfect.
Anyway, you may want to make sure that
a) your stock doesn't have this problem, or b) check with your distributer and make sure THEIRS is ok.
