Does any one know what is going on with TruVue mat boards? I have been trying to get ahold of them for several months now. They do not return their phone calls (all you get is an answering machine when you call)
I sent them an e-mail yesterday and just got a notice that it was undeliverable. I got the e mail address from their web page (Contact Us).
I have been trying to get new samples, I called Larson Juhl, they told me to go to TruVue. I'm stuck, are they going out of business?

John

John, I've been wondering the same for a about a year now ever since my supplier, Vicki Schober, started having trouble getting deliverys from them. As a result, they have stopped stocking TruVue as a regular item and have it available as special order only. There were alot of colors in that line I used regularly but I pulled them from my sample rack because I can't wait weeks to get a mat. The reason given when Vicki stopped stocking them was the problems with supply and slow sales.

I REALLY didn't want to hear this. TruVue are the first mats I reach for because all are available oversize and black core. The color selection is great.

I get mine from Superior Moulding in Minneapolis (fax 952-922-4751). What I order on Monday arrives Wednesday, no problems.

Somebody PLEASE tell me the rumor isn't true.

Tru Vue mat boards (Miller) is still alive and well and selling quite nicely. For samples it's best to contact your regional sales person, though we handle sample request all the time. All colors, sizes and cores are readily available. Why their web site isn't working is beyond me, but you can try this number - 312-943-4200 ext. 3050. This will contact you to Jim Hayes, National Sales Manager - West. He was just here to see me last week so he's around. Good luck.

We only use conservation grade matboard--no paper no time.

That said, LJ carries the complete line of TruVue Matboard, but in the conservation grades only.

Actually, only time we use them is if the piece is oversized and that size/color isn't available from Bainbridge or Crescent.

But, being from Knoxville, home of the UT football team, TruVue does make a way cool orange mat with black bevel hich the students seem to love.

Michael - have you tried Crescent's colorcore: black with an orange bevel?

(Just in case you get tired of doing it the othe way around.)

John - Thanks for the reassurance!

John Richards, thanks for the phone number for Jim Hayes.
I called the number and I got a mesage that it has been disconected and there is no new number.
I am starting to worry about TruVue and what is going on with that company.

After reading this thread last night, I tried to e-mail Tru-Vue.

This morning I received a notice that the mail was undeliverable.

Hello Everyone, I am happy to report that TruVue is doing well and we are still here and still in the matboard business. I apologize about the email situation - Our plant is located next to a quarry here in Chicago and the explosions seem to have something to do with frequent power outages.

Unfortunately, a power outage Tuesday night knocked out our exchange server which services email. We were without email contact for 2 1/2 days and event hose of us who were using our laptops and personal email addresses to send mail were getting the "mailer-daemon" messages!

Jim Hayes is also still with us and can be reached at 708-485-5080 x3050. That's been his number for the past 2 years, since we moved from our old plant in downtown Chicago.

Finally, we ARE in the matboard business in Southern California. Contact Larson Juhl - they are carrying the full line as of a couple months ago. If you are in Southern California and need specific help, our rep is Elizabeth Licaudo, x 3107.

Regarding the supply issues - as you may or may not be aware, the paper manufacturers and the paper business has not been in good shape the past few years. Several plants have closed down and others have been in and out of Chapter 11. On top of this, environmental regulations have forced the manufacturers to change their dyes and pigments.

Fortunately, at Tru Vue, we have excellent relationships with many manufacturers so we can be assured of a consistent supply. Unfortunately, the environmental changes have caused some problems with being able to get the colors right. There have been a few issues over the past year where certain colors were affected by the manufacturer's problems in matching the old color with the new pigments. All the matboard companies who buy conservation quality paper will be having the same issues.

Outside of the 2 or 3 colors affected by this pigment problem, we have not had any supply problems.

I hope this clears up any questions - we're glad to be back on line!

Pattie, thank you for your response. I still do not understand why my phone calls to your company where never responded to, I've tried several times over the last two months and left messages on your machine. Why does Larson-Juhl not have your corner samples?
Why did it have to go on a public forum before I could get any information whatsoever?

John

The last post was from Pdumbaugh, according to his profile, he is director of marketing at TruVue. What is going on, why would the director of marketing of TruVue respond by highlighting my original post, then not say anything? I just sent him/her an e-mail from his/her profile page asking the same question.

I would like to get a new set of up current samples for TV mat board. What is my best source? Who should I contact?

Bob

Bob, contact Patti @ TV. They are having problems with their samples at this time, but she seems to be the only one from TV responding and making things happen.
