Does anyone know for sure about how TruVue glass works with Blacklight posters, as well as Glow In The Dark posters? We're framing a few of each.

...I could go home and get a flashlight to test the glow-in-the-dark posters, but figured someone on the board might know about both.

My guess is that it would prevent Blacklight posters from having any significant effect, but might allow the GID posters to still glow?

I'm waiting for a call back from TruVue about it...

UV filtering will not stop a glow in the dark poster from glowing.

Guess you didn't take my WCAF class on the effects of UV :). I demonstrated with a Blacklight and also explained how things fluoresce. Putting UV blocking glass on posters that depend on UV light to trigger the "glow" would negate the majority of the source that causes the effect. There will still be UV light transmitted between 380 and 400 nm, but the use of UV blocking glass will minimize the intended effect.

GID posters depend on light energy to "charge" the ink that then glows. It glows in the light too, you just can't see it. I believe that the frequency of light is not the determining factor, but the intensity is....however, all glass, coated or not, will have an effect. Nonetheless, GID posters should still glow but it may take more light (or as we discussed in class, amplitude) to trigger the desired effect.

Tru-Vue has a battery operated black light available that framers should have in their shop. It is a great way to test framed things to detained if they have UV blocking glazing.
