I've been fighting a Troj-virus on a friends computer. Its 41K in size and writes it's self to 4 - 10 locations using real names of other programs that are started at OS start. The other files are renamed with a space before the . XXX .EXE

It also uses a rename font but with a .com xxx.com file in the WINDOWS\FONT directory again 41K size.

I've deleted them all several times so there's other file that I believe resets them at shutdown.

Anyone know what I might have?

Sounds like a you have some type of a ROOTKIT virus.

Have you tried running Hitman Pro and/or Hijack this?

What other antivirus program are you using?

A scan with www.malwarebytes.org free version might take care of it, and identify the culprit.

I signed up for malwarebytes antivirus program. The tech at malware bytes identified the trojan program which kept regenerating itsself on my computer. They sent me a quick program to kill the program, then we disinfected the registry and problem was solved. Dont remember how much the malware software cost, but it was not expensive. I never would have figured it out myself.

From what I found while looking around the virus is most likely an auto dialer program. Found several variations of how it appears but the size was a match.
