One of our own is in the news!

Congratulations to Saline picture framers Peter Bowe, his wife, Mary, and Peter's sister Sara Bowe, owners of Saline Picture Frame Co., Saline, Mich., since 1988, who are being honored with Saline's Citizen of the Year Award. The Bowes, who opened a second frame shop in nearby Dexter, have been involved with numerous charitable endeavors, especially their annual Circle of Art program, which raises money for Food Gathers by collecting artwork to be auctioned.

The initiative, now in its sixth year, has raised more than $75,000. This year’s event is set for May 16.

Very nice!! Congrats!

Thanks for the shout out folks. I am actually sort of embarrassed about the whole thing. I tend to agree with Groucho Marx in that I am not sure I should be a member of any club that would accept me as a member. On top of that it involves buying a sports coat, digging out a tie and making a speech - activities I usually reserve for marrying and burying.

But on the other hand we are being recognized for a good benefit for a really great organization so it is an opportunity to spread the word about that. Any grumbler/artist who might be interested in donating a small work of art can check it out here

I remember seeing a video of one of your Circle of Art auctions somewhere on the web. You had a lot of people there. Good going.
