Hi. I have a laminated map to frame and would like to trim the borders to make them even. I'm not very familiar with laminated prints (this one is mounted to foam core)...is it ok to trim them or does is damage the laminate? I was worried that cutting it may cause the laminate to start coming up. Please let me know if you have experience with this.
Thanks!

As far as I know as long as you have a very sharp blade you should not damage the laminate. I have trimmed a print befor and had no problem. Make sure you make severial passes to cut thru the laminate.

It sounds like the laminated map is mounted securely to the foamboard. If you use a sharp blade and the map is mounted well onto the foam, then no problem. I also assume you are trimming part of the map itself. Be sure your cut is square, then everything works fine. Trimming very small sections, like 1/8" could be a problem. For 1/4" or more, no problem. If you are trimmin 1/2" or more, then you can do a test cut at 1/4" to get a feel for it. Then, you will feel more comfortable.

I trimmed a couple of images I mounted and laminated just a few days ago. The cuts are very clean.
Good luck.
