I took an order the other week and did not think before putting it away but now I am in a fix. I am top mounting about fifteen stamps around a postcard and I thought I was just going to cut pass through hinges for them...but my pass throughs are too tight for a peice of tape to go through mainly because they are a 1/4" small. I checked a couple of my framing books and I found a stamp mount almost like mylar but they are the size of a stamp but to my dimay I could not find it any where. Does anyone have any suggestions or any places I could get these?

Showguards. (I think that's the name??) You can get them in a variety of sizes from stamp collectors suppliers or stores. You can just tell them the name of the stamps you are mounting and they will get you the right size. I am not at the store now or I would look on my roladex and give you a number to call. A couple of weeks ago I was in a Barnes and Nobles and THEY had a nice supply of them. Stock up! These are definately handy little items to have!
Now wasn't that clear as mud? Too much Halloween candy for me--maybe I'll be more precise tomorrow!
BTW-Welcome to the Grumble.

P.S.
Not a good idea to hinge the stamps. Hinges require moisture; moisture activates the adhesive on the stamps....you can see how this leads to a problem. Not reversible. Devalued stamps. Hhhmm. You are on the right track with the Showguards, OR you can use Mylar D and make your own. Sorry for answering twice. Waaayyyy too much sugar consumed for my allergy to handle!!!

Thanks Barb. I forgot what they were called. And stupid me I forgot to look on the internet at hppt://www.showguard.com where I found all the supplies I was looking for. I would have used Mylar but the stamps are top mounted and the taped part would have been exposed.

Show guards is the way to go. They are made in several sizes; ask a stamp guy-philatelists or something like that (pardon my spelling). I stock sizes for game bird stamps and usually make my own for other purposes out of mylar.

I would suggest placing the entire card in mylar larger than the size of the postcard and then mounting the mylar. Show Guards come with glue on the back of the mylar for mounting-with mylar you can use mylar corners. Oh yes, Show Guards come in two colors, clear or black; the black mount looks sharp when framed. Once they are enclosed in the mylar they will not move so you do not have to be concerned with them moving in the mount.

Good Luck,

Jack Cee

Help! Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm going into hppt://www.showguard.com, and keep getting the message that the page doesn't exist. I sure could use these mounts. What am I doing wrong in the web address??? :(
