Well it's after 2 am. in the morning and I am just finishing up some last minute printing details. We open at 10am. less than 8 hours to go. Exciting, and somewhat nerve wracking both.
Store looks great!

Congratulations! If ever in Holland, (Ohio, that is) I will certainly stop by!

Now get some sleep, or you're gonna measure something seriously wrong in about 10 hours!!

Congraulations on the Grand opening.. I know it will be exciting times...

remember to measure twice...cut once

Hopefully you got enough sleep!

Enjoy the day!

I hope there is a line at the door. Don't forget to unlock the door!

Good luck....

And don't forget the "Open" sign...
And put cash in the register...
And turn on the compressor...

Oh, dear... I envy your excitement. Knock 'em dead!

J Paul, there's nothin' like that first day.

March 3, 1977, I sold one roll of film - to my landlord. He asked for a discount, and I'll bet he got it. (And film was cheap in 1977!) I saved my first dollar for a long time, but then I needed it to pay the rent.

The second day, sales were up over 100%! It was a trend that continued for 3-4 days!

And so it goes.

Good luck. Knock 'em dead!

Best of luck to you J Paul - -

J Paul, J Paul, J PAUL!!!! WAKE-UP!!
20 minutes to open!!

Hope you have a memorable (and profitable) day!!

Good luck man! He must be busy since he is not posting...good for him. Have fun and enjoy it, it must feel great to be the person in charge.

Isn't it a great feeling to know you can have such an opportunity in your life!? It took guts, smarts and talent to get here.....

You ARE an achiever. Be proud of yourself!

CONGRATULATIONS!! And MUCH success!

Congratulations and good luck. We are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Today my son and I are starting construction on a new frame shop with an eye towards conversion of the B & B to an art gallery some time in the near future. If we can get historic preservation to agree with a change in the permit.

Update, my wife and I are both exhausted, the last 7-8weeks of build out prep have finally caught up. We haven't done any advertising yet, just our signage. So having just taking the kraft paper off the windows and opening the doors today, we had about a dozen people stop in just to have a look see. Did talk to one guy about framing a couple of posters, and I'm sure he'll be back. No sales today, but I am still figuring out how to operate the POS and the credit card machine, haven't had time to look at those, as they were my wifes (Louise) domain, while I concentrated on the physical build out. Actually I was hoping for a paying customer of some sort (we have some things for $5.00 - $1,600) but I really want it to start slow so we can get our feet wet before we do any advertising. We are in a higher end open strip center, busy with major grocery store etc. so we should generate some interest just from the traffic in the center. We plan on giving it a couple of weeks and then start advertising. I still have shop samples to put together. Right now I need some R&R. Thanks every one for the nice thoughts.

dont sleep on the advertising, once you get the opportunity get some spiffy ads out there and see what type of business you get then!!! well glad to hear you got some rest, have fun, you need to be back in Tuesady bright and early. Good luck

Made our first two retail sales today. Have talked to a number of people about framing who have just stumbled upon us while shopping the businesses in the strip, and they say they will be bringing items in. As I said before we are not advertising yet, just opened the doors for kind of a "soft opening" to give us a chance to get our feet wet. Have meetings scheduled with the media over the next couple of days. Hope to post some pictures soon, here and on the shop tips forum as well.
