Question: How do you know which side of UV clear glass to score after you have cut off the edge that says "score other side"?
Non glare is no prob, but I'm not sure I can tell the difference on clear.

Look at the edge....your "plain" side has tiny little ripples that you should be able to see! The coated side is smooth.

You can feel the difference when you clean the glass. the plain side get squeakie clean, the coated side feels different.

Thank you for the answers. I like the idea of Baer's score opposite side stickers! I get easily confused & often.

Mecianne - me too! Baer - good idea.

I don't think Baer came up with the idea for the stickers. Some of the smaller sizes of UV glass comes with stickers saying "Score opposite side". I think Baer was somewhere earlier complaining about the stickers. I don't mind them except for the box I have in the shop now that the stickers are all on the wrong side of the glass.

Whenever I cut off a piece of UV clear glass that is large enuf to recycle, I just stick a piece of masking tape on the score side. Sometimes I even do that during the fitting process - so I don't get mixed up! Works well when I remember to do it!

We just go with the scratch test method...if a blade will scratch the surface, it's the side that faces the artwork (you're scratching off the UV film). If you can't make a scratch, you've got the outside side.

We have a lot of fun with the printing and stickers...we put on our Sports Announcer voices: "Score - the other side!"

Try this: Take a guess. If you score it, and it makes a sound like a parrot in a microwave, that's the wrong side.

Replace the $30 carbide wheel and try the other side.

I love the UV glass that's labeled on one side "East side."

As it turns out, when I'd face that side to the east on my wall cutter, it worked out fine, but I have no idea how Tru Vue knew which way my wall cutter was oriented.

In my new workshop, I have put off installing the wall cutter because the perfect spot will be a south-facing wall.

those little stupid stickers.... and yes Kathy,
the ^#%#@()&)@#%^&*(* box of 16x20 that we have now, has the ************ stickers on the wrong side. Score THIS TruView. Denglass is starting to look very nice lately.

Phenolpropylacidicide will turn purple on the coated side, but do nothing on the uncoated side. So don't frame any Phenolpropylacidicide. (it eats the coating).

I am afraid to ask how you came to know that phenolpropylacidicide will turn purple on the coated side. What the heck is phenolpropylacidicide anyway?

Mecianne,
Before I remove the piece of UV glass to be stored, I mark the uncoated side (the side that still faces me)with a dry erase marking pen. Just be certain you mark it with a symbol that doesn't look the same from the opposite side. To me, it's faster and easier than taking time to scratch a corner. The mark easily washes off when cleaned.

So Ron, I see your new job has you taking Pharmaceuticals 101 now!~~Wait until you get THAT test!
