Just got copy of trade mag today and saw Kinkade's new canvas of Yankee Stadium. WOW, thinks I, looks pretty cool for ol' TK

Then went to the mall for lunch, passed by my Kinkade gallery there and they had it in the window. Must say, it's a huge departure from his other stuff. Think it went for about $1300 unframed, which is how I'd buy it.

So, gang, anybody else see this?? Anyone else impressed either (1) from his departure from cottages with smoke coming out of them and (2) his expansion into other fields??

The salesweasel in the store said he had been commissioned by the Yankees for the piece. How's about the Cubbies doing the same thing???

A while back, someone brought me a Kinkade poster of the ballpark where the San Francisco Giants play (who knows what it's called this week?!). It was actually pleasant to look at. Now, A New Day at Cinderella Castle is downright vomitous!

I thought I heard that TK was going to do many of the stadiums. I saw the Yankee stadium, looked nice I thought.

How's retirement Mike?

I can not beleive I am saying this, but I like Yankee stadium too!
Bring on Ebbets Field!

By the way...I would really like to see a Disney World Castle from him...the castle on his current one looks nice, but everything else is way too __________ (No words to describe)

My mom recently bought that print for my brother, and I will be framing it for him for a Christmas gift....from Mom and me. But not the $1300 version.

I have framed a whole lotta TK prints for Mom over the years, she loves the cottages.....but this one is refreshing. I probably won't gag when I'm working on it.

yep ... better than cottages!!!!

O wait a minute. didn't tell me it was available in paper too. Thought it was only the canvas. for lesser money, I might buyit. I'm doing a room that's going to be "all mine"--no wife allowed--andhave some 1930 cubs memorabilia, artist son's work, etc. and this would be a neat piece I think. But had no idea it was inpaper.

Tim: the fact you haven't seen me here since April means retirement is going quite well. And busy. and productive in non-income-earning ways (like lotsa non-profit volunteering and such) Current interest is working at our local zoo playing with very large constrictor-type snakes as part of the childrens ' education programs.

isnt that a small light shining from the dugout??????? or maybe just a fan lighting a cig???

What's wrong with this picture?

yep ... better than cottages!!!!

Granted he is an artist and has creative license, but that not wothstanding, there is a major innacuracy and it's fairly obvious. Can you spot it?
Hint: You have to be at least a moderate baseball fan to know this. I'll check back periodically.

Hey, you can get it on paper...you can get it on a coffee mug...you can get it on a t-shirt...you can even get it printed on the side of a pencil.

Let's see, Joe Torre in the dugout?

The sun is wrong for an afternoon game.(???)

I hope TK doesn't do Fenway Park. I'll have to switch to rooting for the Padres.

Not the same animal, but...

This is the one my mom bought for my brother, it was still in my camera and I hadn't seen this in awhile, and it's obviously a different "verson" of the print above, didn't mean to get your hopes up, Michael (and welcome back, btw!!). But maybe it'll still work for you anyway!

Yankee stadium does have that shadow so it can't be the sun. The one thing that I noticeed is that there is advertising on the outfield fence in Kinkade's picture but there is not any in the actual stadium. Also the advertising that should be up by the outfield scoeboard is not there (Fleet/Verizon/Bud/USPS)

There does not seem to be a "on deck" circle but there seemes to be 2 people where they should be. There should not be one of those people there, which one depends on which side is batting.

Is that what you were looking for?

I am a huge baseball fan and it must be so obvious I can't see it.
Anyone know what year / decade this is supposed to show?
...I have a theory of something that is wrong...

I get such a warm fuzzy feeling with most of his artwork. I will gladly frame it and toss my cookies later. This is a new approach for him. So, how many: International, Gallery, American, Canvas, sm Canvas, Larger than Life editions are there all together?

It's just a fourth mat, if I remember correctly. I know it isn't a fillet. She bought it matted like that and still has it in Sac. It's not a great photo, I don't know why it looks kinda stripey.

Paul, Could it be lack of a 2nd base umpire? Either that or the missing on deck circles is our guess.

Can't tell from that image, but my first thought was the person that appears to be standing on 2nd base is a baserunner, then where are the two fielders between 2nd and 1st

If that person is indeed the 2nd Baseman, then he is in really a crazy alignment

Maybe a call to Thom might answer that because I just can't tell

Unless, of course, the perfect pitch has been called and this batter always bloop to 2nd then the defensive alignment is genius

When I hear of someone paying $1,300 dollars for a "Limited Edition Giclee" signed by the artist, I get queasy to my stomach. What a great job of marketing!

I second the backstop netting should be in the picture.

I am guessing that the 2nd base umpire is the person who is "on deck" for the team not up to bat. I am guessing that the 2nd base ump is what Paul is looking for.

I realize that looking at this, um, creation on a computer screen is not the way for optimum viewing, but my very first impression of the thing is that it is not a painting at all but that Mr. ******* has hired someone to take a photograph and photoshopped it.

As to the baseball discrepency, I dunno - maybe Shoeless Joe is wearing shoes???

Painter of Blight.

Bleah!

By cracky, I think I've got it!

The answer is waaaaay out there in left field. Or right field. Or center field.

There are no outfielders!

EDIT: Oops. Put my glasses on. There they are. Tiny little things.
No blimp?
Nevermind.

Val--that's pretty interesting too. Gets me away from the more expensive piece and still gives me the baseball "flavor" of the area with the Cubs stuff. Will have to look into this one more seriously than the full-color piece

I'm truly not being sarcastic...

This thread has, at least temporarily, stopped the forward movement of my framing career fading into the past! I almost forgot how much I love Kinkade topics! It's like rediscovering an addiction! I can't stop reading! :popc::icon19:
